Disclaimer: This figure does not originate from any GFC statisticians. There are so many different factors which contribute to the size of crowds, that there aren't enough "similar" games on both days to accurately estimate the effect of playing a game on a Sunday. So I have no idea how they could make such a claim.

Despite being a person that normally doesn't like people saying "yay, top post", this is a post that a lot of people with short memories should take note of.
Nice work Ecky.

in the past a late bye can mean only 3 games in 6 weeks, best to get the 3rd bye out the way earl in my opinio.

What's this I hear about a third country game being scheduled?

Is a Magpies match being moved to Port Lincoln?

Crowd would be huge for that one.

******* hope not!!

Teams that don't draw a crowd should play games in the country, not teams that do. Therefore it makes no difference if no one shows up, and if it does draw a big crowd, its a bonus. Port, North and Centrals shouldn't have games moved.

If Port were to play a game at PL, it would be the biggest crowd at a SANFL game for the year by a long shot. Ports Football Academy over there has boosted the following of the club in what already was a Port Adelaide town.

Its OK PAFC1870... its not a part of the fixture.

I was on another forum and it was just someone exercising their mind. It would have been cool though, eh?

Seeing that it would be one less game for me to go to, I'd be pretty annoyed if it happened. I do like the idea of country matches, just not for Port!!

The SANFL draw lack's vision and of course is lopsided. First ,why open the season on the eve of the Easter weekend ? A stupid decision.

Why don't they start the season a month earlier and get rid of these ridiculous and meaningless trial games and have every team play each other 3 times for a season of 24 games. They use to play 22 games up until the mid-90's and each club plays 4-6 trial games as it is , so there is no more workload on the players.

Each club should play between 1-2 games in their country zone every season. The Easter round of Football should be designated the Country round with 3 of the games being played in the country. The country round makes sense for 2 reasons, first that it is a very busy holiday season with people going away on a short break, second it takes advantage of this by promoting the SANFL to the country people and giving holiday makers a game to go to.
