if only he took the first corner in the lead he would of had it.. only watched the first half of the race but lewis hamilton was carving up a storm started in like 20th and worked his way up to 6th ot something like that before pitting once.

Hamilton worked his way up to 2nd, then pitted and finished 6th.

Amazing effort. He's a massive risk taker, which is exactly what the sport needs!

Disaster in China for Red Bull. Good tactics by McLaren saw a 1-2 (Button-Hamilton).

Red Bull need to get their s**t together very quickly or the other teams will have caught up and they'll have not taken advantage of having a superior car.

Drivers of the year so far for me are Kubica and Rosberg. Would love to have seen Rosberg win today. He's consistently out performing Schumacher and I don't see things changing for the rest of the season.

While the rain makes for a much more interesting spectacle, I can't help but think that if it had been a dry race we'd have seen Webber win from Vettel today.

2 points to raise from the race:

1. Hamilton should have received a drive through for his pit release infringement (as per Webber last year).

2. Button should have received some type of reprimand or penalty for virtually stalling the field at the end of the safety car period.

SAFETY CAR

“40.5 From this time, any car being driven unnecessarily slowly, erratically or which is deemed potentially dangerous to other drivers at any time whilst the safety car is deployed will be reported to the stewards. This will apply whether any such car is being driven on the track, the pit entry or the pit lane.”

A wonderful drive from Jensen, but I think you could argue that he, whilst not driving erratically, WAS driving UNNECESSARILY slowly under the second safety car.

Also:

SAFETY CAR

40.7 ...With the following exceptions, overtaking is forbidden until the cars reach the first safety car line after the safety car has returned to the pits. Overtaking will only be permitted under the following circumstances:

> if a car is signalled to do so from the safety car ;
> under 40.14 below ; any car entering the pits may pass another car or the safety car remaining on the track after it has crossed the first safety car line ;
> any car leaving the pits may be overtaken by another car on the track before it crosses the second safety car line ;
> when the safety car is returning to the pits it may be overtaken by cars on the track once it has crossed the first safety car line ;
> any car stopping in its designated garage area whilst the safety car is using the pit lane (see 40.10 below) may be overtaken ;
> if any car slows with an obvious problem.

Clearly Vettel pushed Hamilton on to Webber, under safety car conditions, causing the Aussie to go off track due to contact with Hamilton. What followed was that Hamilton and Vettel (and a couple of others) overtook Webber BEFORE the first safety car line, still under full course yellow conditions. And one cannot use the defence that "Webber slowed with an obvious problem"...in fact he was still on the throttle...I am a bit bemused by the behaviour of drivers these days. Now that the sport is (or appears to be) so safe, thoughts of their fellow drivers staying on track in a fair race have gone out the window...

Brilliant pole from Webber, outgunning his young team mate by 0.1 sec on the final run. Only bloke to go sub 1:20.000...(a la Senna in Adelaide 1985 ;) )

Great stuff Mark! Now let's make it stick in the race!

Actually, keep your eyes on the guys changing the front right tyre during Webber's pit stop...they've been very slow twice this year already

Brilliant drive from Webber. His best ever IMO. His lap times early in the race were scintillating.

Vettel got OWNED!

It was indeed a brilliant drive by Webber. He dominated just as he did in the German GP of last year.

I still rate that one higher as he had to win it with a drive through penalty.

His dominance of qualifying was very impressive. A wake up call for Vettel that he shouldn't take his team mate lightly.

Mark's normally very strong in Monaco, so it will be interesting to see how he fares next weekend. The Red Bull shouldn't have as big an advantage their without the long flowing corners.

Despite the fact that you'd never normally race at a track like Monaco (if not for the history), it's still my favourite race of the year. The camera angles and the cars so close to the armco make it a special event.

Brilliant pole from Webber tonight.

First time an Aussie on pole at Monaco for decades. And if there's any place you want pole these days it's Monaco.

Great stuff Mark! Make it a double!

YES! YEH YEH YEH YEH YEH YEH YEH YES YES!

Great drive. Webber would have beaten Vettel by 30+ secs if it was not for the safety cars.

An Australian leading the WDC! Keep it going Mark! :D

Vettel looks the number 2 driver at the moment...

Will be interesting to see how quickly he can get back on par with Mark. You can see he's hating it!
