Westies to lose by 8 goal atleast IMO.

Our defence, which i think is our best asset this year, is going to be severly tested.

Those that are out are Ferguson and Silvester as stated above, Hartlett will not come up in time, and Matty Barber injured an ankle tonight and has already been ruled out of the rd 3 clash against Centrals.

Chris Chubb is a definite starter in the 2's aswell, so im guessing Thompson and Willits will be the new faces down back. Webb to fill a forwards role i would think!

Heard from a relieable source that James Gowans is very unlikely to play in this game against the Bloods because of some bruising on the knee suffered in the Port game in Rnd 1...

Have heard the same as well Big Phil,

This will give a younger player such as Habel, L.Westoff a big oppurtunity to cement his spot in the side for the rest of the year. Have heard that James may be out for as long as 5-6 weeks so hopefully by the time he is ready to return one of these players has become a genuine good league footballer.

Not sure NFC, while he was very good in his club debut last week getting BOG in the reserves, I'm not sure if he is the type of player the Dogs will select to replace James Gowans.

Can also confirm, straight from the horses mouth, that Chris Gowans WILL NOT play his 200th game against the Bloods, he will miss another week with the groin complaint.

Centrals supporters or Spelly............................how many times have centrals played the last 9 years with neither Gowans lining up in the side? Wouldn't be many i would think.

I can't even think of when this may have happened off the top of my head, but I'm sure it has occurred where both Gowans' boys have missed a minor round game for the Dogs at the same time.

Spelly ?

Firstly I don't have round by round matches from 2005 and 2008. I was able to work out 2008 from the SANFL website (whether or not it's correct is another matter but I will assume so) at least one played in every match then.
Ok, Chris debuted in Round 2 2000, and James in Round 10; so starting from Round 2 2000, the only match I could come up with is Round 9 2006 - Central defeated Norwood 16.17 to 11.7.
That excludes 2005 however, but I doubt both missed the same match because Chris played 21 out of 22 (James played 16)

Another player out for the Bloods - Chris Schmidt is the travelling emergency according to Phil Harper on 5AA.

Things arent looking good, but would be a back against the wall, inspiring win if we were to pull it off

Through researching the 2000 CDFC Annual Report, can confirm that Round 1, 2000 NEITHER of the Gowans' boys played in the Dogs league side. James was absent through injury, later playing 5 pr 6 reserves games before debuting in the league side in Round 10 as Spelly mentioned, while Chris Gowans started his SANFL career against Sturt at Unley, Round 1 2000 in the reserves before being promoted for his debut the week after in Round 2, again as pointed out by Spelly above.

I'm sure there has been a couple of other occassions where there was NO Gowans boys playing in the same side, but not too often I wouldn't think.

OUT - M.Westhoff (Groin) C.Milne

IN - J.Griffin(Crows) R.Cochrane S.Dutschke D.Schell(Rec)

I believe it will be Leigh Westhoff's 50th game for the club.

Agree with Big Phil you might aswell take J.Gowans out of the line up. He will not play for the next few weeks. Not a bad line up considering the amount of outs still for the dogs. Good to see Roy stick with the youngster Hynes at FB.

I'll stick my neck out and suggest Richie will play, having played in the reserves round one and displaying some of his customary courage and dash off the half back line. Schell might also get the nod as we are a tad light on for talls with Hayes & Henderson both named in key positions, although weather/match ups may be the deciding factor there.
