Sounds like the Ron Fuller train has moved on down to noarlunga ;) .
The trouble with young untried recruits from the over the border. You run the risk of them being drafted before the year begins, and you have lost before you begin. And be prepared for project players from the vfl another Fuller thing.

Still worried about your teams recruiting Klann?

Steady on Bunton, it's amazing what one-and-a-half wins does. Maybe leave the comparisons on how well teams and recruits are going until later on in the season. We remember how good your start to the season was with John Cahill as coach, and then that went all pear-shaped very quickly.

The fact that Cockshell is leading the hit outs after round 2 matters about as much as the Eagles being in top spot after round 3 (assuming North don't beat Port by a massive margin tomorrow).

Less worried now - as long as they hang around!

C'mon though Bunton, pretty sure we still aren't in a position to sh*t stir the Eagles!

Jump on board the South Adelaide express people.

Im an Eagles supporter, but im also a massive fan of Ron Fuller and his work. I have followed Souths progress with interest, and they seem to be playing the kind of footy that will have them in good stead for years to come.

Its disgraceful, sad and pathetic that people who rave about being staunch Eagles supporters sit in these forums and can Fuller for his work, what more did you want him to do? I have been following the Eagles since i was a child, and Ron was by far the most successful coach we had. The playing group may not have all loved him? But is that what we want in a coach? a love-able guy? Or a coach who has the RESPECT of the playing group and generates on field success? We arent following the Eagles too see a loved up playing group who get it easy, we are here for success, and thats what Fuller bought in spades. Had it not been for one of the most successful dynasties in SANFL history, we would have had maybe 3 premierships, rather than just the 1.

You 'supporters' who sit here and bag Fuller, remember what it was like when we were successful, cos 'GOD' has big shoes too fill, and the start of this season suggests we may have been taking Fullers work for granted. We are 2 from 2, but not playing anywhere near the type of footy that will bring finals success. Hard, accountable, 1 on 1 footy brings finals success, and that is what Fuller preached from day one, and is doing again at South.

Pull you heads in and give respect where its due

Well said Human Torpedo
Every one has the right to think and say what they think is correct.
My only problem with Ron is after 2006(always supported Ron up to 2007) that his game style didn't evolve.Yes ron brought in youth no problems there .Recruiting seemed as just a fan to be a problem for a part time coach(he's fulltime at south). We seemed to lose the odd recruit to the likes of Central districts .
Also I'm told by those that went to training that under Ron training was the same drills every training session.
And lets look back 12 months ago Rons game style faulted badly against a Norwood team that just ran and ran .We had similar problems with a running sturt and Glenelg.
Ron will be a very good coach for south .He has continued his unbeaten run at the parade as a coach.and I am certain he will take south to the stage that the eagles were up to under Ron.

Eagles needed to take the next step .A different game plan new ideas a coach with nothing to do with the club .New recruits that hopefully will help take the club the next step up the ladder.
And yep I remember what it was like under Ron when we would win game after game .I also remember what a 125 point loss in a grand final was like and also winning the 2006 flag.

And I can go further back I know what following a team that has only 1 or 2 wins on the board at the end of the year.

But the club needs to grow .And its doing both on and off the field so far this year.New sponsors have come on board that means more money.I'm certain if u were there saturday you would see the new score board sponsor. The new cheer girls etc etc .
So give the new regime a go :D
But also remember the past :D

Holden, your ineptitude as a person is constantly shown with your lack of ability to post normal replies. No, im not Ron fuller in disguise mate, just a bloke who can grasp the simple concepts of life, such as facts. Your responses across the Threads on this site constantly baffle me that i support the same club as you, it worries me somewhat.

It irritates me when people bag the coaches when things go wrong, and in this Thread, seem to bag coaches when things go well. A quick look at Fullers numbers will show that he was/is one of the more successful coaches in the modern era, you wont see many coaches who will be around the same club for a decade, and produce consistent performances as he did.

Mickyj, I was there when we got pumped by 125, that hurt, but I dont put that first qtr debacle down to Fuller when we lost hat game, the fact we gave 5 goals from direct turnovers in our defensive 50, that is where that game was lost, and it wasnt Fuller missing those targets, by Qtr time there was no coming back, it was gone for all money. I too was there in 06 when we won it, right up there with one of the greatest days in my life especially.

The fact he introduced 71 local players to League footy, 27 of whom went on to be drafted, suggests his work extends far beyond that of his on field success. If you blokes in this Forum who simply dont like the way he did things, maybe because you are used to mediocrity, and dont realise what it takes to bring success, which Fuller clearly does.

But, with change brings new beginnings, and 'GODs' appointment will bring fresh optimism and change to a club that probably needed it, hence the new training drills, new sponsors, new players (no matter how average his recruiting was), I just ask that you respect Fuller's work in the past decade, and instead of worrying about whether people liked him, concentrate on what is coming up in the future, and hopefully that is more success for the Eagles.

End rant.
