How to improve this site?

Postby Wedgie » Fri Dec 23, 2005 8:50 pm

I've had quite a few people suggesting we have forums such as is in bigfooty where each club has their own mini-forum. I've always been a bit non committed to this as North, South, Norwood, Sturt, Glenelg and Port have really good forums where their fans can discuss things at the moment.
Having said that and with the CDFC guestbook closing down I've got rethinking, perhaps it might not be a bad idea, with the clubs who have successful forums on their own with perhaps a link to that site?
What do people think?

I'm also considering incorporating live score updates (where people can send in scores via a wap website with their mobiles to updates scores), a chat room and photo albums into this site but always keep in mind that I want FootySA to stay as the No 1 SANFL news site and hence keep a link with them whilst maintaining different facilities . I'm open to any other ideas from people on what we can incorporate on this site.

Sounds ok on the part of linking the established club sites' forums, but maybe establishing forums for the club that don't. Apart from that I can't think of anything; this site can only get better towards the seasons' start with more stories and input from fans (hopefully no trolls).

I plan to keep trolls out of this place.

Fix up the moderation system
Never give a sucker an even break

Nor ban a user for an acceptable topic of discussion.

"Baby on board". Why dont you put a sign on ur car saying "adult on board" or "car stereo in use"?

Make up some new logos, etc, and make the whole setup look a bit more schmick in general.

I do like the seperate club forums. Not everyone posts on the other sites.

Get rid of all those bloody Port fans. They all say the same shite and we've heard it all a hundred times already. Then in two years get rid of all the Centrals fans because they used to be Port fans anyhows. Problem solvered.

Hic.

I would vote strongly against having separate club forums on here.

There is already enough double posting between the club forums and here (and on footysa sometimes), and having club forums here too would only make this much worse.

This just makes it tedious for people to wade through all the forums and sub-forums to find the information they want, and leads to people not bothering at all (I have seen this happen in other web communities I have been involved in when people set up "rival" forums).

So I think all that needs to be done is to set up a permanent "sticky" thread with links to each of the club forums. For those clubs without forums - start one up!

So we're gonna make it like Survivor (or any other reality show) where the strongest get voted out by the weakest who gang up on them in numbers?

At least you'll be around for a while, REB.
