Look forward to seeing how loud it is this week. I watched most of the South Sturt game in Rnd 1 on ABC and thought I could hear the PA getting a fair workout in the background that day...certainaly more than what I remembered from our visit to Noarlunga last year when the stats were being given at the quarter breaks.
Trust the process.

Has your team fixed up its guernseys yet or do you still have tape over the Solo logos?

From safc.com.au

SOLO brings new innovations to Hickinbotham Oval

Further to the recent announcement of the South Adelaide FC’s 5-year partnership with Schweppes Australia, the Panthers have released details of a number of innovative promotions that will see Schweppes bring further colour, and crowd engagement, to games at Hickinbotham Oval.

Panther CEO Ben Kavenagh stated “The South Adelaide FC was thrilled to be acknowledged by the SANFL as providing the best game-day experience in the league in 2009. Now, with the assistance of Schweppes, we will add further excitement and entertainment to our game-day experience”

Just some of the new innovations will include...

Game-day attendees at Hickinbotham Oval being plucked from the crowd, and put through a number of quirky challenges, to both entertain the crowd and provide participants the chance to win big prizes.
In an SANFL first Panthers Coaches will conduct “Solo Interviews” on the ground prior to the game and at the breaks to give Panther supporters an up-to-the-minute insight into their team.
Key “Solo Stats” will be relayed over the loud speaker ;) after goals further informing and engaging the Hickinbotham Crowd.
Solo branded products will be handed out by League Panther players to game day patrons after the game.
Further colourful and vibrant branding and signage will be shown all around Hickinbotham Oval highlighting the strength of the partnership between Schweppes and the South Adelaide FC.
In a break from tradition, the Panther League team will enter the field each week in bright yellow, solo emblazoned, warm-up jackets, further highlighting the strength of this mutually beneficial partnership.

Kavenagh advised, “The SANFL have the ability to approve the playing jumpers of all its members Clubs, and were reluctant to approve a Solo logo on our jumper that conflicted with one of its major sponsors. Both the South Adelaide FC and Schweppes Australia have respected this request from the League, and as such have since replaced this part of their agreement with a number of visionary promotions. These up-graded promotions both clearly and widely display the Solo brand throughout our stadium, while assisting the Club to provide an innovative and interactive experience to all our home game patrons.”

On behalf of the South Adelaide FC and its passionate supporters, we would like to thank Schweppes Australia for their support, and for assisting the Panthers grow its visionary and interactive game-days.

The club will announce a new senior jumper support partner in the coming days.

For further comments, please make contact SAFC CEO Ben Kavenagh on 8186 8200

OK so who pays for the new jumpers SAFC or SANFL? Surely SANFL for not advising SAFC prior to this sponsorship deal being set in place and the jumpers carrying the logo all approved before the season by the SANFL.

South were advised when they were handing out the free Powerade bottles and Powarede drink containers that all clubs got at the start of the year. Powerade Coke products through the SANFL/AFL sponsorship were handed out last year. Which rock were South hiding under to not realise that Coke is a major sponsor of the league. I mean it is not like ambush advertising is a new sponsorship phenomenum which any marketing person should be aware of.

I wuls have thought south would have to pay for it, cos they had them made without first getting the approval. it is possibly a moot point anyway as they havent got new guernseys yet. they are still playing with tape over the solo logos. (or at least they were against north last week)

Dont think the cost of the jumpers is a huge issue

South obviously bending over for this Solo sponsorship, what sort of $$$ are involved?

This week's water cooler conversation was "did you feel the earthquake from where you live?"
Next week's - "did you hear the Hickinbotham Oval PA system from where you live?"

The SANFL is up for the cost one would think. Have heard on the grapevine that the League was advised of this deal in December. They did not respond until March, what were the panthers to do? wait :?

I am sure the SAFC have some "explanation" as to why 4 rounds into the season they still have "tape" over the Solo sponsorship name and not got alternative jumpers made?

As commented on by many Panther fans and the rest of us agreee that their jumper with the tape on it looks ugly and unprofessional. If there was a delay on the SANFL deciding on the sponsorship and South having already got the new jumpers made, surely another set without the Solo name on it or an alternative sponsor would have been the way to go as an interim measure until it was finally sorted.

When North were told they couldn't have Coopers as a sponsor and given the name had already been put on the jumpers, we had a temporary iron on panel that matched the colour of the jumper put over the Coopers name for a couple of trial games with "NAFS - we teach football". We then got new jumpers with a new sposor "Toshiba" made for both Senior Grades by Round 1. Surely South could have done that, it's not like they are a poor club!
Piss weak SANFL and the CLOWNS who run it.
