SA vs TAS (Sheffield Shield)

First Class Cricket Talk (International and State)

Good Declaration

require 5 runs per over

early wickets the key, no field or bowling restrictions, plenty of variety with Tait, Dizzy, Rofe, Cullen, Boof and Cossy

big opportunity for Tait to put the selectors on notice, Tait can earn plenty of credit points by bowling SA to victory

your right Mal

I would bowl Tait, Dizzy and Rofe in 4 over spells

and bowl cullen from the other end

leave boof and Cossy in the bag unless things go pear shape and we need to try something from left field

269 needed of 41 overs[246 balls]

COSGROVE 2 OVERS 0/1 no damge yet!
CULLEN now on + the defining spell of the match I feel

S/DOG Im with you Im perplexed how Mr Cosgrove bowled before CULLEN or BOOF.

TA 19 overs 1/46

i think Tas will struggle to chase down 300

it's all about wickets

40 overs to claim 9 wickets

i hope Tas are aiming for victory, this would give SA a better chance, if TAS shut up shop, then we will struggle to bowl them out

If BOOF bowls himself + Cosgrove in the first 20 overs TA can get momentum and believe
it or not we could lose this game.
DIGHTON + PAINE are good batsmen, DIGHTON is the key as can score very quickly.

Whats your prediction S.DOG ?

TEA
TA 1/66
23 OVERS
PAINE 16*[74] very slow, but he saw off TAIT
DIGHTON 45*[60] where has he been all year, is a good batsman.
COSGROVE 0/1
LEHMANN 0/9

EQUATION 249 RUNS OF 36 OVERS[216 balls] run rate of nealy 7 an over

TA in the box seat as can attack for the short term and win or close shop
if they lose quick wickets after tea.

TAIT/GILLESPIE must bowl first up after tea.

Its a very simple equation
the 4 bowlers bowl 9 overs each
ROFE can contain so perhaps the other 3 could bowl more overs.

Getting 9 wickets is virtually out of the equation, we need to defend.

Mal

we need to keep attacking, 7 an over is a big task, we need to encourage Tas to take risks, this is the easiest way to take wickets

Draw seems on the cards, but boys keep attacking

Birt has smacked 4x6s now, we need to get him out.

I am also amazed that Cosgrove continues to get an early bowl... he is not a wicket taker! It is very very frustrating.

A draw is pretty much guaranteed now i feel.

Deitz just fumbled a stumping chance which would have removed Birt

TA 2/171 OFF 43 OVERS
BIRT 55*[57] whoosh
PAINE 65*[136] yes REB he is a star
116 of a minumum of 16 overs left[prob . more with spinners on]

I take my hat off to LEHMANN who has allowed this game to get out of control

CULLEN 13 OVERS 1/73......as I thought he is the key
LEHMANN 9 OVERS 0/33

Give me a break, LEHAMNN a part timer keeps bowling on and on and on
CULLEN is being murdered and bowls on and on and on.
Meanwhile check this out with the 2 strike bowlers :
TAIT 5 OVERS 1/19
GILLESPIE 6 OVERS 0/9

Both should have bowled when the last session commenced and both sit
in the field scratching thier balls whilst the carnage continues.

LEHMANNS CAPTAINCY IS AN ABSOLUTE DISGRACE
AND HOW DO I KNOW THAT :?:
BECAUSE NOT 1 PERSON ON SAFOOTY HAS HAD A GO AT ME ABOUT HIS CAPTAINCY.

Amazingly, Tait's first ball in his new spell is a wicket.... the ball before that was a wicket also with Cosgrove taking a SCREAMER on the boundary line.

Tas 4/185 now

4/185
PAINE 70*[141]
BAILEY4* [2]
BIRT 60[82]
DREW 0[1]

TAIT back on...WICKET
GILLESPIE back on WICKET

20 OVERS TOO LATE
I rest my case, we have snuffed this game up, we can still save it with these 2 on.

Now its MARSH's turn for madness, BIRT out and he bats DREW next.

Whats going on there today ?

4/201
BAILEY 10*[6]
PAINE 79* [149]

12 OVERS 111 RUNS needed
BAILEY on fire, how did he bat after DREW ??????
THE 12 OVERS IS THE MINUMUM MIGHT BE MORE ?

Drew was obviously used as a "pinch hitter" but he only made 20 off 115 balls before being caught LB by Boof in the first dig. Another baffling captaincy decision.

If we get Paine and Cliffy out in the next few overs, we could still be a chance. Mal, I agree, Boofs captaincy is poor. Change required for next year, and not Manou.
