Smithfield Football Club is holding a past players day at Mofflin Reserve on Sunday, with possibly up to 40 past players representing either Central United or Angle Vale we seen it fitting to have it there ;) .
All in all though, I think it should be a cracking game, both teams eager to keep their seasons alive and have produced some good results so far, hopefully they are both near full strength.
Special mention to Ricky Stansborough who has played for all 3 clubs.

and The Lodge as well ;)

hahaha i played at the smithfield and lodge and at units now lol. as LM said it should be a cracker of a game we will be coming out throwing everythink on the line. i must say much looking forward to it

Saw on SAAFL website that Bourke kicked 14 for Glenunga!!
He's looking good for my pre-season prediction of kicking 100..

Great day down at Mawsons yesterday with a big crowd and 2 good wins....things didn't go according to plan early with our President suffering a mild heart attack and collapsing on the field while umpiring our B grade, sent a massive scare through the whole club but thankfully he is recovering well in hospital now and the lads were able to draw inspiration from him and get over the line.

Modbury have some good young players and really pushed us for the whole game, I don't think the end margin really reflected how close the game was....If they can get a stable team on the park everyweek they could play finals easily and cause some damage imo.

Good to see Glenunga fighting back. Never good to see a club deteriorate...

I love grapes. With grapes, you always get another chance. You know, if you have a crappy apple or a peach, you’re stuck with that crappy piece of fruit. If you have a crappy grape, no problem-just move on to the next. ‘Grapes: The Fruit of Hope.

Doyley's been good, had an interuppted pre season due to work commitments but seems to be getting better and better each week and should be pushing for A grade selection very soon...I do know he's very much looking forward to taking on his cousin this week down at Glenunga :D

4/5 for me. Do I owe Unknown Source a house?

A good crowd was on hand at Mawson Lakes Hotel Oval on Saturday as the Footy Club celebrated it's past players day. A small Marquee was set up for the old faithful as they came to watch their side take on the youthful Modbury Hawks. They would have been happy with what they saw early as the Saints got off to a 3 goal head start. But a serious injury to Saints Forward Travis Smits, culminated in the visitors getting back into the contest, as Dalton Wegmann booted his first for the Hawks to see them level at quater time. The 2nd quater was an arm wrestle as the pacey Jesse Rowe and Brett Tarca put the Hawks into the long break with a small lead. Enter Ivan Novosel, as the Saints Foward ripped apart the game in the 3rd term netting 5 goals. He was well fed by the onball brigade of Rob O'Gorman and Lachlan Kennett as the Saints opened up a handy lead for the last break. With the game in the bag, the Saints cruised to a 39 point win, pleasing the past players who had travelled from Nation wide for the Day. Lance Long and Michael Draper had their best games for the Saints in defence while Novosel was awarded the Greg Sutton Medal (Awarded by the past players on a 3-2-1 Basis) as best player on Past Players Day. The Saints face a big test this week at Webb Oval against Glenunga as they take on a fellow Top 3 side while the youthful Hawks will no doubt push hard for a final 5 spot this season. As Riddler has touched on, Saints Prez Pete Molloy suffered a Mild Heart Attack while umpiring the B grade on Saturday. In some pleasing news, Molloy has had a successful operation and may be able to leave hospital in a couple of days, and I know Everyone at Mawson Lakes wishes him a speedy recovery.

Not a bad summary at all there Warrior. Thought the Hawks matched you guys for most of the game, just that 10 minute patch late in the third which let you guys get a handy lead. Thought the umpires were terrible the whole day towards both teams, but that head butt by one of your players was pretty bad and I can't believe the umpire who saw the whole thing did nothing! Good to see your coach come up and apologise to the player after the game for what had happened though. Not much our young backline could do with Novosel, the delivery to him was to good. Very tough game this week for Mawson Lakes, Glenunga are on fire and will be very hard to beat, rated very highly by the Hawks after playing them 2 weeks ago! The Hawks will no doubt be looking to get back in the winners circle this week!!

Also good to hear your pres/B grade umpire has recovered well after saturday!
