max stevens outburst on triple m

Postby bayman » Fri Dec 15, 2006 8:45 pm

did anyone hear it at about 9am today,

he applauded the appointment of j.fantasia (no problems with that) then the sanfl got a tirade with some of his points just so far off the mark its not funny some yes some points had merit but not many

what annoyed me was the sanfl has gone nowhere in 15 years well i ask how many games has he seen in that time ? (i tip none) the other was u/17's & u/19's where the rest of australia play u/18's i can see that point but he fails to recognise that some kids mature later & therefore playing u/19's may give them a lifeline that they wouldn't get at u/18's plus with 2 underage comps it gives twice as many kids a chance at playing footy

i wish i had the transcript but i'm going on memory but will be writing a letter to complain at the outburst

NOT A HAPPY BAYMAN AT MAD MAX
i thought secret groups were a thing of the past, well not on websites anyway

The only thing that surprises me about Max Stevens is his ability to make a living out of an industry he knows SFA about. I've never had much time for Max.

I haven't heard the comments in question but I do agree with having an U18s comp and scrapping the U17s and U19s comp.
Many more positives than negatives IMHO.

The guy is an arseclown. Always has been, always will be. Would probably be the least respected "personality" in football.

Im with Wedgie on the U/18 concept

the u/17 and u/19 concepted is out dated and has not produced the results ay U/18 National Champ level

for those players that are late developers their are plenty of football avenues and re-entry points to the SANFL and AFL levels

Max would want to be extremely careful at the moment. There are a few people keeping a very close eye on some of his outbursts about various issues. He only just avoided fairly hefty legal action over the Ali Carle affair recently - some of the things he is saying ARE being noted and are NOT being appreciated by some fairly influential people.

Didn't hear it, so unfortunately can't sink the boots in as I would loved to have done, becuase I have never liked him.

Somewhat ironic that a parasite on the game like he is should earn so much more than the average SANFL player.

Anyone remeber his drunken antics on "Four Quarters" (hosted by Sandy Roberts), about 10 years ago?
Not long after, he was "relieved" of his on air duties (presenting sports segment) at 7...

I do recall that outburst.
I had contact with him during my years at uni - ended up doing some work experience with him. Seemed an interesting guy back then.

He also did a sportsman's night at Elizabeth in about 1996.
He was telling how he'd (allegedly) shagged Glynis Nunn. Someone in the crowd made a comment about that being no great effort in the glamour stakes. Max's response - "How many gold medallists have you shagged mate?"
Personally, I think I would've rather had none than Nunn.

I would have replied that I hadn't assaulted any gold medallists either. Max is indeed a very small man.

Why would he even give two shits about the SANFL? He doesn't have any people to make money off there.

Perhaps that's his problem.
