Re: Premiers despite not beating every team
After Round 7, and a most impressive win against North from my point of view, the Eagles were 6-1. From that point on, only four more wins were registered for the season - to the eventual 9th and 10th placed sides...and both meetings against the eventual premiers. Go figure.

Re: Favourite Norwood Player
Ducker was very talented, I think from memory he was injury prone.
I think he got drafted to Melbourne FC in late 80s, but I dont think he moved over.
Would be interesting to know his record (games played/goals scored) in late 80s, when the Redlegs probably had a list capable of making at least 1 ...

Re: SANFL Draw
Interesting facts about opening round matches is that South have played every Round 1 match at home from 2000 except 2001 and 2011 at Woodville and 2007 at Encounter Bay. Sturts home match to start last year was their first since 2000. Norwood opened with a home match every year from 2001 to 2009

Re: The never ending No AFL in the SANFL whinge thread
I would love to go back to the 80s and have 3 state leagues and 40,000 people supporting the local teams but it not going to happen as money control sports these days.

Re: The never ending No AFL in the SANFL whinge thread
Exclude the two Anzac Day matches last year and you average 2907 to this point.
Do the same for this year (well, the 24th) and you get 2541.
Want another comparison? 2009 had not two, but three matches badly weather affected on Anzac Day. In my table, 2009 averaged 3173. Take those three matches ...

Oh, and here's another thing, after that article was released I think is the best timing to say it:
Last year all we heard was crowds were up on 2013...over and over. Not one mention was made of the real poor weather in 2013 in comparison to the whole of 2014.

Re: The never ending No AFL in the SANFL whinge thread
Perhaps some are staying away because they are indifferent to the competition but times change and rivalries change, move on. The challenge for the SANFL and the clubs is to put on a product which entices the fans out to the local game. I witnessed an excellent game 2 weeks ago between the Eagles ...

Re: The never ending No AFL in the SANFL whinge thread
Believe it or not, I do think the improved attendances for the AFL teams have some part - please note I said 'some' though. If you have been a follower of my tables in the Attendance Comparison thread, you'll note that 2005 had the lowest attendances prior to 2013. In 2005, the Crows and Power were ...

Re: The never ending No AFL in the SANFL whinge thread
A staggering FIVE players made their debut for Peel today. In a final, for a league football team. I can think of one or two players who made their debut in a final for the Eagles (Matthew Stokes, Paul Stewart). But FIVE! Surely a record. (Spelly?)

It's important to recognise people who compile extensive lists, however a list I obtained somewhere online that I forgot I had does not have any author attached to it.
It lists the following who was killed on active service for the VFL, SANFL, WAFL and TFL; the SANFL players listed are:

Re: 1979 SANFL Grand Final
The first year of Sunday minor round matches was in 1977 - 5 matches all at Football Park. Then the following year, more were held at other venues
