Stick with the actual issues and you'll help us better.

Having all the non-selected AFL players at the Magpies in the one team is fantastic; it's what (at a guess) 90% of Port supporters have wanted for years and now we have it. Change the nickname from Magpies to Power, use the black V guernsey, it really doesn't matter, because as I said at the start, the AFL team is our main priority. Thanks for your support :)

At least your honest.
So you have no issue with the zones being taken away, demise of the reserves reserves etc..

That's bullshit. Absolute BS, in regards to my stance.
My love is for the CDFC first, my AFL club second. By a long way.
My posts throughout this debate can verify that.
I even took the issue up with a Crows official on the weekend, probably ill-advisedly in the circumstances.
My point is that this debate, on this site, is now going around in ever decreasing circles and some of the issues of debate, such as whether Port is the real Port, are BS and are actually making us look more tin-foiled hat than sensible.

I hope that the people in charge make the right decisions later this year. I hope that an AFL seconds competition of some sort comes to fruition into the future.
I hope that my club continues to play in a competition of relevance.
I hope the words of our first premiership captain continue to ring true: "We are a club and we will go on".
But, as I said, I reckon I may actually be done with this debate.
You're my only friend, and you don't even like me.

While it would be 'nice' to retain the zones, even if reduced (as the club proposed in acknowledgement that there would be fewer spots in the league team), no. A lot of people on here and elsewhere are saying "get out of our comp, no AFL in the SANFL" etc, but unless a national AFL reserves of some sort IS set up or the VFL extends an open armed invitation for Port and Adelaide to join them (they're already at 16 teams so I doubt this would happen), with a sound business model, then the AFL reserves teams will remain in the SANFL. There's not much that can be done about it at the moment by us as supporters or the clubs. My personal preference would be to remain in the SANFL so I (as a supporter) would have more opportunities to see the Magpies/Power Reserves/SANFL team play from week to week in Adelaide. But if the national/VFL option was taken up, leaving only 8 teams in the SANFL, then I wouldn't have any qualms with it. My number one priority in a football sense is the AFL.

I do like the last line of that article. But really, have people been under a rock for the last 9 months? It was agreed that the zones would be realigned for 2015 onwards. Why is this such a surprise now?

Tinkering around the edges of the new system is about the best you will get I suspect.

As for the constant Magpies no longer exist rubbish I see running through this laughable thread, you people remind me of climate change deniers. The truth stares you in the face, but you all still scream it's not real it's not real! Magpies in the SANFL, Power in the AFL, it's actually not real hard!
And for the record it was this comment which kicked off the recent activity on this thread. I guess it probably didn't merit even a response in hindsight.

Just for some clarity, can someone define "the Magpies" and what constitutes "existence" please?

As I said earlier, I believe about 90% of people who support Port Adelaide in the AFL and SANFL aren't particularly concerned as to whether the Magpies "exist" or not. It's all for the greater good of the Port Adelaide Football Club (in whatever plane of reality you believe that club exists in). It's nice to see the prison bars and it's nice that they're still called the Magpies, but if they changed the nickname to the Power and wore the V then that's fine too. I'm sure Norwood will do fine with developing the EP and I'm sure they'll appreciate the extra support from Port Adelaide. I hope they develop a great partnership for years to come.

That's for Descartes to answer. IMO they only still exist at a superficial level.

Lot of hope there DW, based on the decisions made over the last 12 months sadly I think it is false hope.

Sadly even if the comp got rid of the AFL teams next year to a National comp, many people have left the SANFL for good.

4 of the crowds from 5 games last week under 2,400 with 3 of them under 2,000, reality is starting to bite, and the clubs finances can't be improving.
