I'm not sure how accurate the records are back then, so I was thinking I could have a separate thread for the players who exclusively played before 1907. What do you think? (And I pose this question to everyone else).
There are a few more "Same as" questons I would like to ask, too:
David Crawford - Norwood (1913-15)
William Crowe - Norwood (1909-10)
Frederick Curnow - South
There is a Leonard Dangerfield for Glenelg, too.
Clem Dayman - Port
A seperate list sounds like an idea. The biggest trouble is mainly due to Ern Kolosche's book (and he did an UNBELIEVEABLE job by the way) we've all grown up believing that SA records should start in 1907 but in reality they probably should start in 1897 (the year that behinds were added to scores). The only thing that happened in 1907 is one word changed in the title of the name.
Pre 1897 records can be a nightmare. For example when researching Medindie the first team list I found in the paper was in 1890 and the team started in 1888! And even after 1890 they are few and far between.
David Crawford - Norwood (1913-15) (North 1919-22 48 games - Possible)
William Crowe - Norwood (1909-10) (North 1914 I game - Unlikely i'd think)
Frederick Curnow - South (North 1919-23 63 games)
There is a Leonard Dangerfield for Glenelg, too. (Norwood-North 1943 13 games)
Clem Dayman - Port (North 1915,1919 19 games)
