Two Wells travelled to Virginia Oval on Saturday to take on arch rival Virginia. The game was played in wet and windy conditions which were the complete opposite to the Round 2 clash which the Rams won a high scoring match by 26 points. Both sides came in to the match with 3 wins and 3 losses, with the winner to cement a spot in the top four. Two Wells made two changes for match, Lee Allmond and Kahn Leighton were out with hamstring injuries and were replaced by Adam Humzy who was resuming from injury and former Port Adelaide Magpies league footballer Alf Steed who was making his debut for the Roosters. Virginia kicked to the scoreboard end in the first quarter with the aid of the breeze and were leading 2 goals, 6 behinds to no score at quarter time. The Rams went into half time with just an 8 point lead and the match was set an exciting second half. Two Wells set up the win in the third quarter by keeping Virginia goaless and kicking 4 goals of their own including a huge bomb from outside the 50 by Paul Christofis. Two Wells ran out winners by 14 points and banked two important premiership points. In tough conditions for forwards, Rams spearhead Bredan Niklaus was well held by Roosters captain Scott Humphries kicking only two goals. In the Round 2 clash Niklaus kicked 9 goals and was clearly the difference between the two sides, a game Humphries missed through injury. Virginia travel to Hamley Bridge next saturday to take on the much improved Bombers in a must win match if they want to remain in touch with the top four. Two Wells have the next two Saturdays off due to a bye and the June long weekend Landmark Cup at Kadina. After winning the last three matches Two Wells faces there biggest match of the season in Round 10 against regining premier Mallala at home. Mallala have been the best side for the past three seasons and will be a real test for the Roosters, a side they havn't beaten since round 13, 2006.

Looked to be some great games of footy over the weekend, the groundsmen of each oval may think otherwise considering the hammering most of the surfaces copped :( . Magpies had a solid win over Hamley who battled hard. Peckers would be more than happy with the character they showed to deny the Tigers their first taste of success after the Tigers appeared to have it won with 5 mins to go. Tigers showed that they're certainly not far off the mark at the moment, matching it with the second placed side in the comp for all but 5 mins of the game. Certainly can't see United loosing to Hamley again this season though, now having played both teams. Two Wells looked to have capitalised on Virginia's inaccuracy in the 1st qtr (8 scoring shots to nil) and fought back for a gutsy win in the market garden derby without the Lethal Lee Allmond. Roosters starting to fulfil their potential and everyones expectations at the start of the year as the pace setters in 2010. The competition could not be much more alive at the moment, with 5 teams all capable of beating each other on their day. Makes for exciting times.

Two wells to good on the weekend, thought virginias bigger bodied blokes would win the stoppages.
To Two wells credit they had there head over the ball and were first to every contest. Competition looks very competitive, any team can win on their day.

Heard their was a report in the Longies match, but didnt hear who it was or what actually happened. The reports in this league always seem to be a bit so-so and often a bit of guess work goes on in a time of panic from the umpire, was there anything in it MC, SG, Wizard or unit? The Balak/Tigers matches always seem to be spirited.

Former Adelaide Crow and Balak player Eddie Hocking was in the umpiring strip in the 2's at Hamley on Sat, has been around all year?

It was Mark who got reported. I am under the impression that he didn't get offered a prescribed penalty so I think it will be going to the tribunal this week at some stage. Considering that, I perhaps won't put my thoughts on here about what (if anything) happened or how. I will wait until after the tribunal hearing.

im not sure virginia are a big body team. would only put youngy in that catergory. would have the smallest ruckman in the league. but it was one of favourite come form behind wins ive been apart of. 24 points down in the second and the keep then to kick 8 goals to one after that was great. espec in the wet

It wasn't bad or ugly or any of that. Just don't want the tribunal going in with pre-conceived ideas (if they read this). Nothing more to be read into it. Sorry if I wasn't clear.

not a punchup just heated words what i heard. The club wasnt happy with some of the supporters abuse to the umpires. A few people took offence to that. No matter on how the bad the umpiring is they shouldnt cop the abuse they did saturday.

Any talk on the Association squad reps from each club. Pretty sure Mallala has 8 players in the squad, not certain who they are though.
