Balaklava def had played a high-pressure type of footy for 3 qtrs and the pies looked pretty flat, not sure why with plenty to play for. But yeah 8.5 to nil last qtr was pretty pleasing especially given we were 3 goals down at 3qtr time. Balak def slowed down a bit in the last, but importantly for us most blokes stepped it up a level in the final term. Don't think it was fitness, more about our attitude and intensity which was ordinary in the first 3qtrs. Balak really should have put Mallala away in the 1st qtr having 9 scoring shots to 2 but only led by 7 points at the break.
What looked to be a comfortable win, certainly wasn't convincing you would have to agree Jumbo. What did you think of the game, saw you blokes sniffing around the place ;).

Adelaide Plains lost the first match last year by a couple of kicks and wouldve won if the game went another 10 mins and they won their second match by over 5 goals. Happy to be the underdogs, as long as we win both games!

Unfortunately I didn't see the game - thanks for the update. With J Mont getting back into form and Whitty back soon we should see Mallala improve even more I would think. Going to be an intersting game at Two Wells Sat week.

Anyone willing to have a crack at the Association side and see how close they are??

For what its worth here would be mine, without putting a lot of thought into it...........

Mills Brice Walker
Seccafein Griffiths Pym
Hardie Wilson Wilkey
Hardiman Higgs Earl (c)
Brown Freddo R Montgomerie

1R Banton Rimmer J Montgomerie

Inter: Cawrse - Schahinger - McPharlin - Barnes - Leighton - Young

Shit! Doing that was tougher than I thought. Lets see everyone pick it to pieces now.

Good effort MC, don't mind that side at all. I'm pretty sure Hardiman is playing with the dogs. The next week or so is going to be very interesting given all the automatic suspensions that will be given out to guys making themselves unavailable or whom are injured. There are some big names missing from that team for whatever reason and not due to poor form I wouldnt think. It will make for an interesting round of local matches next week between teams missing some stars.

It will be interesting to see what the league does with suspensions if anything. I read in the paper that big Niklaus has a wedding to attend to and therefore can't play. Going on past years its safe to assume that he will get a week, but in MY opinion this is way too harsh. It is a legitimate excuse and if I were given the same choice I too would go to the wedding. However he will probably still get a week.

If Hardiman is playing with the dogs, does this mean that he is not making himself available for Association? Tough question but on previous years suspensions, could he find himself missing a week for not making himself available cause he's playing Ressies in town? It would be stupid if he did but don't discount it is what I'm trying to get across!

I think Hardiman would be safe from suspension, giving he has been selected to play at a higher level, which is great! Hopefully he'll also be playing 2's the week after anyway so if wont matter.

Yeah Nicklaus and Johston from Virginia both have a wedding I heard. Similar story with Lurch, poor bugger has had a holiday booked for months on this weekend assuming he wouldnt be selected because he hasnt in previous years and he now gets penalised for it. Given he has done all the training and let the coach know asap hopefully commonsense prevails. Burgoyne is also in the squad and would be a walk up starter, but not sure if he's made himself available either MC, do you know?

Yeah poor Lurcha! Similar story to a couple of years ago when Marty Pym and I booked a holiday in February to watch the Kangas take on the Cats (both our teams) on the long weekend. Pym got a week witch was way too harsh. I think that was the same year Montgomery got a week for being named emergency yet the bloke who pulled out of the squad Saturday morning got nothing. :?

Burgoyne has been named in our best players only once Donkey (first game of the year). Form would suggest he shouldn't even be in the squad. Definately no where near a walk up starter. Pretty sure he will be at training tonight, but I wouldn't pick him in my side.

He should be fine as he has missed the last few weeks with a legit injury.

I can understand why the league are being tough on it, but I'm pretty certain that 99% of blokes WANT to play anyway. All they are doing is alienating those with legitimate excuses like Big Nik and Youngy.

I've heard that first year tiger player Ben Starr has had is season end with a badly broken jaw. The result from a late elbow from Eagles player Manners? Have heard it was pretty dirty? Can anyone give details of the incident, any report? MC?, Ace?

Umm, second on the goal kicking list, playing in a pocket, i'd definately have Burgoyne in my assoc team! Question is does he, like many others, want to even be there? Like has already been mentioned, it will be very interesting to see who plays the following week?

Not a bad side at all. Lacking in height but not much you can do about that. Maybe put Galic in there for more height. How many allowed on the bench?

 I saw the incident and it did look extremely dirty. Not good for the young fella. Hope he can make a full recovery. Manners does have a tendancy to raise the odd elbow. Even though I support Hummocks I can't condone shit like that. He should have been reported by the ump and given a big penalty.

Was definately a scrappy game of footy. I thought we were going to win a the start of the last quarter but the Tigers held us out. :(

I think Benny got out of hospital yesterday after having a plate put in. Not good news for him and he will be off work for a couple of weeks one would think. It definately wasn't a "football" collision.

As far as I know neither umpire reported the incident.

Are the rumours true regarding police investigating reports of illegal substance abuse at a club in the APFL?

Illegal and non recreational.

Anyone???
