My memory of the 2001 Div Two Finals was of a side that wanted it more than the others. They were the ones who were prepared to get down into the yuck and get the footy. They won each of the three games the same way ----- incredibly heavy conditions that they ploughed through to eliminate their three rivals one after the other.
One of the best take-overs I can remember. They really wanted it and they got it.

As for the rest, DTH, most of it sounds pretty right. I can remember at least one of the Viking Flags coming from the Elim Final, but not sure about a second.

Where's Bill? Yeah... Hmm... Bill is on the Villa Quatro, on the road to Salina. I will draw you a map.

You are right about 2001 Div2, a very ugly finals series after an incredibly dry season. Lonsdale handled the conditions better than anyone and worked hard to knock over everyone for a real surprise flag.

Unfortunately, it was probably the end of any hope of some promotion/relegation happening which may have saved the two-division format. Lonsdale were never going to be promoted (and I don't think they asked to be - tho I may be wrong !)

Ironically the first one they knocked over was the crew they are now joined with ---- amalgamated with O'Sullivan Beach the very next year when all sides went into Div One.

In a way Lonsdale were promoted. That was the last season of 2 divisions. As BtP said Lonsdale merged with O'Sullivan Beach and everyone went to division one.

I stand corrected ... I was thinking it was a few years before the move to one div. Maybe I was thinking of the previous Mawson flag :)

Aldinga V Lonsdale 5 points. Optimistic, yes, but by the same token there's no reason why they can't do it.

Brighton V Townies 15 goals

C/Beach V M/Park 15 goals again, they looked the goods a couple of weeks ago

Cove V M/Vale 10 goals

Hackham V Marion 10 goals

H/Valley V Reynella 8 goals

Pt Noarlunga V Flaggies 1 point, match of the round

By the way, did anyone notice that the Sharks had the biggest winning margin of last week's round? ;)

Has anyone noticed Morphie Park has won three out of three on back-to-back weekends ?
Good chance to make it three straight too ----- playing Christies A's and B's, plus a side lower than them on the Sunday Under-14 ladder (Flaggies).

would have thought flaggies might drop a few of there saturday kids for the sunday under 14's like they did against lonsdale. If your lucky you might get to see some of their regular sunday kids crying coz they didn't get picked. i felt very sorry for those kids, all because they don't want to lose to lonsdale.

That is ridiculous farva. Our Sunday team is about developing kids not beating lonsdale. you'll find also we don't have 44 under 14s to play each week so some of the sat kids do need to back up and help out. Otherwise we would be close to forfeit week to week with about 14 kids missing out on a game. If you don't like it also you could play sat 14s As it is your first side.

After pinching the pennies this year (compared to the previous two), it will be interesting to see the direction the twisties take in 2011. At a minimum, they should be the beneficiaries of an easier draw.

Emus by 6ish goals over Hallet Cove, mainly set up by an 8 goal to 2 goal first quarter with the breeze.

Any Cove posters out there - how many players from the 2008 premiership side are still playing in the current A grade side? Still seem to be a fair few?

And NO HOT WATER in the Cove change rooms!! [-X

Your right it has all been deleted?? Asert must really have some pull on this forum. The police should have been there to arrest that player for his 'blatently dirty act', some might say assault. The club report may hit the mark with the tribunal, who knows??
