Virginia appear to be hitting their straps at the right time of the year, 10 goal win over Two Wells is a fair effort in the wet. They will be very difficult to beat come finals time. Caleb Howell would have to be shortening rapidly for the medal.

They were very good as a team and Howell was extremely good, his work rate for the whole game was outstanding. The Rams mid field was outstanding, it will be a good clash Magpies vs Rams in 2 weeks.

Would be more than happy with that result, unfortunately Mallala won by just 5 points in the first match we played and they beat us by 3 points the last time we met. it will be a great game, somehow I think you might have your hands full with HWE though in the final round, they're also looking the goods.

The Tigers showed very poor form on the weekend to say the least.The eagles are looking very tidy. If it wasn't for M East semi holding Jazz Wilson it could of blown out even more, Jazz is a class act. The Eagle will give it a nudge come finals time this year and they are my tip to beat mallala in the gf. The tall youngster with a thumping kick running around for the eagles was impressive also. As for Opitz' and his future with the club, that will be decided in a few weeks i reckon. If he gets the boot ,then that will be three coaches in three years. The tigers seem to have about twenty coaches on the sidelines that seem they all know better. Any club that recruits players and then proceeds to appoint a coach afterwards is a bit backward if you ask me.Two recruits i speak of came to about four pre season trainings. One pulled a hamstring round 2 and the other dissapeared into thin air after round one . What sort of idea does this send to the playing group? Opitz bleeds black and gold and loves the club and it's people to no end. Playing over 200 games being involved in 2 premierships and minor premiers multiple times i think he knows what it takes to be on top. Bad habits take a while to get rid of just like smoking. Once the playing group understand what type of committment needs to be undertaken to get to the top things will turn around . We are not far off and the comp has got a lot better over the last few years. Unlike the other clubs we do not have a big town to draw from so therefore we must recruit wisely,we have no choice. There are some promising colts in the ranks to slot in the seniors next year, couple these guys with the right attitude and good pre season numbers and the tigers will be growling again in 2011. And then all you blokes will love to hate us even more, including all those clowns running around in white who call themselves umpires.

I disagree Wizard, I think that if you change the coach at united then they will never get of the bottom. I have seen at some clubs they change the coach every year hoping to take the club from bottom to finals with no effort. If United change the coach then the supporters should look at changing the committee. With the way the club has been over the past few years they need to have a long term plan and stick to it.

This is good news for all clubs, no more injury issues, when we are down on numbers for whatever reason the league is saying we can just put anyone on the field, even if they are not on the teamsheet - seriously when are these people that are charged with looking after the game at APFL level going to get it right?

Saturday's game Virginia had Mark Nycamp (8) on the field but not on the team sheet. Team sheet had Matthew Nycamp (22) playing A's. Nycamp (8) kicked a goal which was given to (22), Nycamp (8) was interchanged a few times as well I understand.

Nycamp (8) was on the U17's team sheet and sat on the bench all game.

If the league takes no action then the question is - what is the point of the team sheet? What if (8) got reported? Who would have been suspended - (22)?? What if (8) got umpires votes? There are numerous other issues as well.

From my experience the team sheet is "god" - it has to be correct otherwise fines or worse are applicable. For the league to ignore the issue is typically weak and another example of a board that has lost direction.
