thoughts?

has this been paid much this year?

The Umpire had no choice but to pay that free, silly decision form the Reynella Player who had 2 team mates next to him but hit panic button and handballed through the points with no other intention.

Great game of footy, Prescott great for Winey's and young Greenbank from Emus showed his class

Reynella got a great start but Emus played better for the last 3 quarters,

Good to see Reynella get up against the Emus.

I guess it is still August, so we will have to see what Reynella can bring out in the special month of September, the
month that the weight of the world seems to come down on their shoulders. I know Early has the shoulders to bear the load.....
Has he imparted this to the players yet? Or more importantly have they taken it on board.

That Porties #21 - said it before and will say it again - can really play. By the way, does he play Gaelic football by any chance? It's just his techniques looked like what you do with a round ball (if that makes any sense). Anyway, he was a gun.

Would be Ciaran O`hagan, so certainly has the name for it, but dont know if he has played before

Ciaran used to play with Onkas once upon a time, when his old boy was coaching the side.

Gaelic Footy is the game they play in Heaven! Its also quite popular in Ireland...

With an excellent name like that we may try and lure Ciaran O'Hagen to St Brendans for the 2010/2011 season for some much needed Irish credibility! A fair few SFLers go round in the Gaelic league over summer, last season St Brendans introduced the likes of Craig Bevan and Josh Vick (Cove) Andy Bachmann (formerly Christies Beach) to the Irish game, to go with our stack of existing Happy Valley and Morphett Vale players. In fact seeing Emus ruckman Martin "Shorty" Short try his hand at the game was certainly a highlight of last season!

Onkas currently have a strong link with Brighton, with 3-5 players coming from the Bombers. Also i think Brighton's Toddy Johnstone played a few games for Western Ireland a few seasons back.

Anyway apart from my Gaelic Footy tangent, a good game of footy at Reynella on Sunday. Reynella AGAIN were quick out the blocks (something we will need to look at) but a gutzy fight back from the Emus. Looking forward to a big ground, dry conditions, some reasonable sized changerooms, and a siren that players can actually hear for the rematch in 2 weeks time!

ive often wondered if i should have a crack at gaelic footy in the off season, seems the perfect way to keep fit and maintain good reflexes. As an ex-Viking myself, i know a fair few blokes playing at St Brendans. Maybe the SFL could use gaelic as its pre season comp! Sorry off topic. Play on..

On the siren, was the question asked how the siren sounded while the ball was out of bounds being returned for a throw in?

did anyone see the disgusting treatment to a junior umpire on Sunday at the u/10 carnival at lonsdale. The lady from Reynella was the junior coordinator, she should be Sacked for her actions toward the junior umpire. If we want to keep young kids to be umpires we should look out for them. There is a learning curve for both young players and umpires.

Not supporting the abuse of a umpire what so ever at that age, I heard in the U10 game he was giving free kicks to M/Vale kids for no reason, then telling them where to kick the ball (Is that a good learning curve for the kids) He is an U14 M/Vale player ....this raises the question of weather these kids should be umpiring their own teams games???The right answer could solve alot of problems...Well done to all involved in running the carnival was a great day.

just thought i'd inform everyone about the incident that happened at port noarlunga 2 weeks ago.. Our player has been handed an 8 match ban... the SFL is an absolute joke, how can you give 8 weeks for an unseen incident, where the only witnesses were port noarlunga supporters, and the port noarlunga walked away from the incident with nothing but concussion.. Absolute disgrace, looks like next year every time there is a bit of roughness, all a club has to do is report it and the player will be out for several weeks

8 weeks is a lot..
but concussion (if you could walk away from it) is pretty serious consequence..
