Two Wells took on Balaklava in its final home match of the season yesterday afternoon. Two Wells needed to win its last two minor round matches along with relying on other teams to lose to reach this years finals. 15 year old Dylan Wise and senior colt team mate Luke Godfery were both making their A-Grade debuts. Godfery has made a brilliant transition to senior football after featuring in the best players in both his appearances in the Reserves earlier this season. Both Wise and Godfery have bright futures in the Roosters 1st team jumper in the years to come. Two Wells kicked to cemetery end in the first quarter with the aid of the breeze as 300 game and triple Premiership Rooster legend Neville "Cheeky" Seccafien donned the yellow t-shirt as regular runner Ben Arnold was unavailable. After being retired for a few seasons Cheeky still looked fit enough to play and was very energic encouraging the young Roosters as he delivered the messages. As has the been the case when Two Wells and Balaklava have clashed in recent times there hasn't been much between the two sides. The Roosters led at the first three changes but never more than 13 points. When midfield Kahn Leighton goaled on the run early in the last quarter it looked as the home side had the momentum, but this would be Two Wells final goal for the afternoon as the Peckers kicked the next 7 goals to cruise to a 31 point win and put the final nail in the Two Wells coffin and end the Roosters finals chances. Stuart Lamond's side is well drilled and very proffesional and this was evident with their post match warm down after singing the Peckers theme song with stretching on the oval and esky full of cans of Solo and Powerades for the players and to Fog Forn's amazement no amber liquid

Balaklava are peaking at the right time and with its tall side are capable of going all the way especially if their finals are played on a dry day. Former junior Ryan McDonald who has returned to the Roosters this season after a stint in the Spencer Gulf Football League was best for Two Wells and has had a strong second half of the season. The Peckers face Hamley Bridge at home next Saturday at should account for the Bombers easily as they are vying for second spot with Hummocks-Watchman. The Roosters face the Eagles at Lochiel in its final match of the season next Saturday and the Eagles are the only side Two Wells havn't defeated this year. After a grand final appearance last year, Two Wells has been very inconsistent this season in a year which promised so much. Its best has been brilliant but its bad has been bad, the Roosters will be playing for pride next Saturday.
