WTF? United are stiff if your correct MC  Less points than Virginia who have played in a prelim and a GF in past 2 seasons   I cant find too much logic to this setup other than trying to rig the result each year, or rather cover up the incompetentcies of each clubs recruitment team

The points system should make the APFL very interesting next season. So how do the points work? A local player would obviously be worth 0 as the idea is to promote locals instead of imports. So are imports ranked on what level of football they played at? A player that has played AFL or league football in the SANFL is going to be worth more points than someone who has played SAAFL or in another country league.

If an under 17 plays he is minus 1 point which could work for some teams

MH I think it is worked out on a win loss percentage over the last four year period.
If your colts have won 14 to 16 games you loose 2 points. (eg Balaklava this year )
If your colts have won 11 to 13 games you loose 1 point. ( eg Two Wells this year )

May work ok for Two Wells and Balaklava as over the last couple of years have easily been the best in the senior colts. I think TW played a couple of colts this year who still qualifly next year.

Correct Wangas! Like I said, using that formula Hummocks should be on 9. It will be interesting as most teams would have been over those allocations this year. Will mean teams will be very selectively recruiting.
If you don't like it, change it. If you don't want to change it, it can't be that bad!

Only if they played in the 2009 season. Any that have been recruited after 30 June 2009 will be allocated a points value.

Not so sure some clubs will like this. Why is it worked out based on senior colts. You can have senior colts teams winning 14+ games which determine Ur A grade points tally. What if Ur A grade are contsantly missing out on finals and they only recieve something like 8-10 points. Not all senior colts are ready for A grade when they finish 17's. Then you have Virginia who havent recently had any decents colts but have a very good A grade side recieve 11 points :?

Two Wells should be ok with this system seeing as only 3 imports took the field. Will be interesting to see how United fair given there doesnt seem to be a good core of 17's coming through and P.B. taking out a good chunk of the 10 points.

No shit!
Points system doesn't really work too good if you don't have many junior players. This year we had 16 senior colts and 14 junior colts. We will struggle big time under this new system purely due to population.

Just an update on young Tim "Shippo" Shepherd. He's had a cat scan recently as he's still been vomiting, still getting headaches etc. Hopefully it shows everything's OK. I've heard the perpetrator has been banned for life from the Roosters, and banned for a year by the APFL tribunal. Apparently a Tassell I think, has been suspended for 10 games? Didn't he win the association medal? Not sure about any other suspensions.

What does everyone think about the penalties handed down? I know a year sounds a lot in theory (and kudos to the Two Wells Football Club for their punishment), but it's not much out of a senior colt's career. I'd like to see a rule where they can say a year or until your victim returns to football, whichever is the longer. If young Shippo chooses not to play footy again (and who could blame him if he didn't), then the idiot doesn't play again either.

Agree with the penalties and your suggestion mate. Thanks for the update on Shippo. Keep em coming.

Shippo's cat scan results haven't shown anything untoward thank goodness. Just a matter of time now hopefully, before we see him on the cricket field at least anyway! Get well Shippo! :-bd

Tassell was the medal winner. There goes next year for him that was his last year in 17's as well bu what did he do? he couldnt hurt a fly. You'd be surprised to see that kid again in the APFL good ridence.

Just to clear it up Jack - Luke Tassell won the U17s Assoc Medal. He and a Balaklava lad got into a rumble after the final siren - it was caught on video and both players went to the tribunal. Tassel received 10 games, 4 suspended - has never been reported before, doubt he ever would again - he is not a fighter (before this incident anyway) and I don't ever recall him being in any incidents on the field this past 5 years.

The kid Beefy, that attacked the Shepherd lad has been banned by the TWFC and by the league. I agree, give him life, football doesn't need players that behave like that.

So MC is the points system in for sure? I was of the understanding it was not coming in next season or until SAAFL also adopted it.

FYI - Two Wells had 9 points total in players last year - minus 1 or 2 depending on U17s playing.

A few hiccups in the points need to be fixed, e.g. TW have a fringe player who played BL&G 2 years ago, lives in the town and was still attributed 3 points. By my understanding should have been 0 points.
