any news on rosies this year? considering they did a bit of recruiting midseason last year, i expect them to continue the trend

if they dominated Div 5 last year, why are they still in that grade?

Yep thats the important question. Answer is they arent as dominant when it counts.

fair call, i think anyone could have beaten anyone on that day last year. It's a different type of game in that kind of weather

I think you could refer to my previous posts to answer your questions. No one came out for the wrong reasons, there was no excessive amounts of cash thrown at these players. We are dissappointed these blokes have decided to move on but as you said as one door closes another one opens up.

Yet we still went to div 5 after that game. I think the comment I was refering to was if we were dominant in div 5 why are we still there.
Do not take anything away from Heccies in 2009 or Elizabeth in the prelim. Both were better teams on the day and thats all that counts.

IMO, if their A grade squad stays together, Plympton after being the benchmark club of div 5 over the past three seasons should push harder than ever before for that elusive Division 5 premiership. HV after playing finals in 2010 should be a stronger team than last year and will push for finals again.

With some of the early reports coming from BL that some of their higher profile players are looking to leave, it's not the best way for the Lodge to kick off their 2011 campaign, but I'm sure they will push for finals yet again. I also think that Rossies will play finals aswell, after a strong last half of the 2010 season.

IMO both WC and Lockleys won't go as well as some people think, same with SW coming down. As for Woody South, I think they might surprise a few people and be a competitive outfit under a new coach.

Sorry to burst you bubble DK, because I don't mind you talking us up - but our A grade missed the finals this year (2010). Finals are certainly our number one aim for 2011 however

when you look at it tho, the only three teams you didnt beat last year were heccies, elizabeth and BL. two of those have gone up and from the sounds of it BL have lost a few guns. obviously smithfield rosies and plympton will be handy again but i think HV may be in for a good year also.

With a couple of key recruits and an injury free run (well, less injuries than last year at the very least) I think we will have a good year. There are a handful of players returning after a year or two away from footy that will help boost our overall depth and hopefully all the under 18's coming up will inject some youthful exuberance and get a few senior players watching over their shoulders, as A grade selection for a few won't just be a given like it was in 2010

Competition for spots is a crucial ingredient for A grade success IMO

true but lockleys losing mickan and corbett, west croydon losing vessali back to portland, teams coming down you never really know how they will go weather they rebuild or they lose more players from the previous year. not saying that they are flag favourites this year, just think they might be in for a good year.

We are hopeful he will go around again but are unsure at this stage as he has just bought a house down south. He was great for us last year and the club will do all it can to keep him im sure.

My bad, you ended up finishing a game out of the finals in 7th spot. I got mixed up and thought you guys finished higher than Smithfield and Plympton.

The type of day shouldnt matter. Eliz were better than us when it counted and are therefore playing Div 4 this year. Can't hide away from the facts.

To those from BL going elsewhere for the cash, well it just shows that they were only out at the Lodge for 1 reason, CASH. Those that said they didn't want to play against SW, then just miss that game. Where's the issue? Although they were crucial players at the club last year, no one is bigger than the club and BL will move on. I would prefer the club to back those who are there for the love of footy, not chasing the coin all over the country side. If it means the club struggles then so be it. Atleast the players will be passionate and play for each other, not just the tiger dollars or match payments handed out on Saturday night.

On a side note, good luck to Daniel Schell, who is leaving the Lodge to coach Salisbury West B grade. Top bloke who is very well respected, I would imagine SW B grade, if nothing else, will be extremely competitive and give everything in every game.
