Read it again and I'm sure you'll agree I also said he was staying at Onkas.
Obviously being from Onkas you'd know about his love of the club and taking the pay cut whereas I wouldn't.
When people get pay cuts they rarely tell anyone, so the grapevine isn't as hot.

If the ill informed tripe comment was about anyone else mentioned in the post then I'll just let it go through to the keeper, as it's obviously you that is ill informed.

Fair enough but he genuinely loves it at Onkas. Sorry for having a crack but we are not a club throwing around huge $$$$.

Well it will be interesting if Stokesy does play, has been out of the game now for a year as well I think and didn't look in peak shape last time I saw him and doesn't have the best training habits.
Woody would be a good pick up for the Bombers, could still play the game, will always be fit and as a wise man once told me, doesn't get any shorter during the game. Has this been confirmed though as I was talking to a good mate of his and he said he hadn't heard anything about it.

I heard part of the deal was free transport to and from trainings and games... ;)
It was always going to be a good chance he was playing at Brighton, is really good mates with Sam so it wouldn't always be about money.

why then???

Unfortunately at Flaggy there seems to be an negative attitude towards players who have left the club for whatever reasons in the past. Players who have left and make a return are made to feel like outsiders and are 'shunned' for 'turning their back' on the club. Many ex players don't watch FHFC games anymore because of this reason, and is why 95% of the FHFC supporters are made up of Mum's, Dad's, girlfriends, etc. You will find very few former players watching the A grade on a Saturday afternoon.

It's funny how the FHFC representatives on this forum have turned their back on Butcher, and as WLF stated in another topic, are now burning bridges once they have realised their mistake. As a FHFC representative I will not do this, as I believe it is very childish to make up stories and show very little respect for someone who had turned down offers in the past, and stayed loyal to the club for 10+ years.

It must be noted that during these 10+ years at the club, Butch enjoyed zero team success and may be a reason for not returning after playing finals at Onkaparinga this year.

And with all this talk about Flaggy having to pay Butch $500 a game, etc did he ever actually ask for this? Knowing the lad, I very highly doubt it and unless you were sitting in on the conversations with Butch and the club, you don't know. And hearing how much he is getting paid at Onkaparinga by your brother's girlfriend's husband's nephew is very rarely correct and usually skewed in an upwards direction.

The FHFC have been a commited junior club over the past 10 years and we have all seen the fruits of the labour, but during this time, the senior side of the club has been severly neglected. Hence, why there have been little recruits (although promised every year) and why some players, including Butch, may have lost patience with the club. Fortunately this problem was identified at a meeting a year or so ago and has since been rectified with more of an emphasis on the seniors, but unfortunately for the club, we may have missed the boat.

These are my views only, but to suggest that Butch didn't come back to club purely because of money issues is a cop out, and another instance of passing the blame rather than accepting that there are some problems at the club.

Don't worry Specky.

The problems you have stated above are not isolated to just your club......

If flaggies pick up some older heads they will be knocking on the door of the top 4. Execution by had and foot has been there problem over the past 3 years with improvement coming last year but throw in some older heads to help with there direction they will become a quality side. If it goes that way in 2 years time they wont be knocking on players doors they will be knocking on flaggies door.
Also butch is a great forward and performed well in the side he was playing on many occassions kicking over 65% of the sides score. Im pretty sure brighton would have used him in the grand final last year. He will be back a flaggies soon just in time to finish off the jigsaw puzzle. Great bloke to.

Exact numbers not yet known. 5 are definate. Importantly we have retained all of the 2010 list apart from Carlile who has gone to Kaniva. 5 under 18's come up into the seniors, a couple who will play A Grade. Brad and Robey have done a great job recruiting for both grades, both are still hopefull to get more players. Off field things are looking the best they have in the several years I've been there.

Good to hear. Aldinga's a fantastic club atmosphere-wise - lovely people there, always made us feel welcome. I'd say a bit of success is well-deserved and long overdue. They've been moving in the right direction over the last couple of years - investing their money in the kids and building a team as opposed to buying one. Mr McSpaz reckons he's got one year left in him so I'm looking forward to coming out to watch the Sharks in 2011. :)
