Is irrelevant how many people show up.
If each club gets $3333 each (as you so brilliantly calculated),
the cost to the club hosting is $10000 to take the pitch up, so that club would lose $6666 for the day.
The idea is so stupid I can only pity the people who work with you (on the fruit-line), are related to you,

A point that everyone is missing is there is cricket matches programmed for this day. With finals matches on the following 2 weekends that rules out any ovals with turf wickets as they are required for finals and simply would not be suitable for cricket after a game of footy.
What benefit is there to the cricket association and its clubs to inconvienence itself for the sake of a trial game?
We wouldnt even be considered for an AFL game had the cricket clubs and association not put turf wickets in, in the area.
As for ripping a slab of concrete out the AFL still wouldnt play there as it will still be a surface that moves just the same as covering the concrete with sand and grass. Although i cant see how this would be aby different to ethiad.

Heres an idea for the AFL, how about deciding the venues now for the 2012 country circuit so that towns, football associations and cricket associations can plan for the event. IMO the AFL is arrogant and just expects people to bow to their every whim and is not connected at all to people at the grassroots level.

With them paying the $10K (which is still owed to another SANFL club) to get them to release an injury prone, fringe league player and pay him $500 a game, they'll need as much as they can find. They'll struggle to get a return on this investment.
Must be extra good crops up that way!

You'd best pass that information on to the South Adelaide footy club then! If that was the case, how is it that both Hamley Bridge & Mannum bailed out of the race to get him when told the figure was $10K?
Both of those clubs have people that carry that much in 'small change' in the ashtray of their car so one would then presume it must be as you so wisely put it, "carp"!

I know for a fact that a couple years ago a league club tried to get and got $2000 from a country club for a player and then had to pay back $1000 as $1000 was the max they could charge. I dont think that has changed

Hi panel, I know it's the silly season. Are there any clubs up in the Barossa struggling for numbers? I know an old croc moving up that way that would like to have a run around in the B's up there! Not wanting to push a kid out of a game but would love to have a kick and a catch in 2011.

Speaking to a mate that knows both these boys well and he said that AK has gone (which we all knew anyway) but Billy has not gone with AK, however still not a definate that he will be a magpie in 2011.

As the curator of a wicket that has seen two pre season AFL games in recent history I would have to say that the AFL are an unstoppable juggernaut. They will do as they please regardless of the ramifications to the teams that play cricket on the particular ground that they select to be the most suitable for their needs.
We have been lucky that there has only been minor damage to the wickets as a result of the match and have been able to get them up within two weeks. If however there had been rain before or during the game, those pitches would have been rendered unusable at the business end of the season. That would have been pretty hard to take, considering the countless hours of volunteer effort to curate those decks all season. Unfortunately these things don't seem to matter to the AFL.

Unfortunately the AFL has forgotten about grass roots footy unless you live in GWS or QLD.
Nobby should tell them to stick the game up their ass. Take the opporetunity to head down to Hamra oval for a look instead.

The losses have eased thankfully, but not 100% sure on signings at the moment. Probably have more idea when we kick off on the 17th.
