I think Bridgy will be happy playing finals, just proves youth is the way to go. They do have the best youth going around at the moment no doubt about it

Just wanted to say that yesterdays b-grade match between Aldgate and Mylor was a great day of cricket worthy of a top of the table clash. Played with great spirit between arguably the strongest club in the hills over the past decade and a club that is rebuilding after not fielding a team until recent times.
Mylor got off to a great start and held the upper hand for most of the day, at one stage being 3 for 170 ( Fielke 78 ) . But as we all know one wicket can change things. Aldgate showed why they are normally around the mark in most grades skittling Mylor's middle order at one stage taking 4 for 10. Mylor eventually being bowled out for 221. Aldgate 0/7.
There was plenty of chatter but it never got out of hand and i thought it was one of the more enjoyable days of competitive cricket i have played in.
Hopefully next saturdays cricket will be a competitve close fought game played in the same spirit as yesterday.

Mt. Lofty v Happy Valley (C GRADE MATCH REPORT)

A solid effort in the field from the mighty red caps restricted the men from Gay Valley to a misely total of 120 odd. Young Daniel "Cool Waters" Cooper bowled an absolute treat with only 10 runs being scored from his 8 overs.
Wickets were at a premium because there was about as much chance of Happy Valley paying an LBW as there is of Tom Maslin paying his subs!!!! STUFF ALL.

Lofty never really looked in doubt chasing down the total, with Shane Maslin, Matt Pistola and Sam Miles all contributing solid knocks to chase down the total with 8 overs remaining.

In a controversial move, Miles was told after the match that his services were no longer required in the C Grade and would be playing D Grade for the remainder of the season. Big call considering he has got the side over the line with the bat in the last 2 matches...

nah....why would that occur???? 90% of our teams played juniors for us..

your right in one respect, at least one will end up in town...and a real chance of being a future star...unlike some juniors in the hills who dont test themselves at a higher level

Why would you go back to Lofty, few good blokes around but generally not a strong club. When your whole club hates your captain its not a recipe for winning

I have never been more shocked at a cricket teams game plan, but saturdays performance from mt lofty was embarrassing, there the laughing stock of hills cricket, to top it off there captain had the weirdest fields ive ever seen!!!! deep 3rd man fly slip a couple gullys few slips deep mid on short cover, mate it was unbelievable, they only have a few decent blokes that i no of, S.Miles, T.Maslin, D.Bennett, J.Elliott, S Maddog madsen, staten seems ok dont no the bloke though...

I dont think we need t go into so much detail Lads, but I do agree with some of your comments, take from that what you will....but expect changes next season

Ive been there for 17 years, played with not only legends of Mt Lofty but legends of Hills cricket in Penny, Kruger, Speck, English etc...and look the past 10 years have been disappointing, we had 3-4 years where we just missed finals, middle of the table, and were happy with that thinking we would step up the following year not for it to happen....IN my 17 years the A Grade have made the finals twice...not good enough.

I can honestly say the club is now looking the strongest it has been for a number of years, it might not be showing in the A Grade at the moment but there is some momenteum in the lower grades and 16's being undefeated...A grade lost about 200 games of experience this season Evans, Madsen and some fat bloke..always going to be a tough year but we have at least won a game! Looks like SCIB's, Happy Valley, Stirling, us and Baskets are all well below the others...we at least have youth coming through, something the others cant say...

Off the field the club has never been better IMO....anyway enough of my ranting
