Marion, Aldinga, Hackham, Lonsdale, Morphies and the like will never match it with the top 5. And it's the junior teams that are hurting. Junior teams being flogged by 30 plus goals each week will only turn kids off footy. As for the power house teams being allowed to have 50 kids in one age group on its books is disgraceful. Junior teams should be limited to 35 players per list with excess sent to the struggling clubs for the benefit of all. Get rid of the 4 team junior Sunday comp and spread these kids amongst the battlers. Time for the league to have some bite and tell Edwardstown that when they were invited to the league they had 2 years to bring their juniors across. Where are they??? Bring them over this year or p*#s off!
PM you will upset everybody on here if you raise 2 divs. It wont happen.
What is a power house team??
It is impossible to force clubs to cap numbers of kids, they play at a club to play with their mates. If numbers are capped we run the risk of losing kids to other sports or to no sport at all.
If numbers were capped we would still have 30 to 40 goal thumpings as all clubs would (as in soccer) keep what they deem to be the best footballers in that age group and send the rest away.
I agree Edwardstown need to do something about the junior problem, however the SFL has allowed other SFL clubs to enter Sunday sides and not Saturday sides. Can't demand E/Town comply when the old hands don't.
These clubs hurt the clubs trying to do the right thing, It is rubbish that clubs with a full list should have to suffer and split teams to different grounds on the one day.
