The Amateur Footy Show that aired on Ace TV ch.31 (now ch.44 digital) from the mid 2000,s through to Sept 2009 "GrassRoots Footy'" did not go to air last year and was replaced by an online internet show hosted by KG and The General. Whilst The Roots was only about Amateur Footy the replacement show had a portion of their show dedicated to SAAFL. I only watched it a couple of times but did not get positive feedback re that show to myself. Mainly due to the fact that the info didnt cover all of Amateur league as we plan do to do this year on the radio show.
Amateur League Gameday (if that is the name they go with) will aim to give equal times to all divisions and not just talk about the ex AFL/SANFL players.

So to clarify the mediums we are talking about. GrassRoots was TV and was cancelled by the league  KG and the General (its supposed replacement) were doing a bit on SAAFL on fridays i think on an internet show and i wouldnt have a clue if they still are or will be during the season. "The Radio Show that Amateur League has waited too long for!" will be on the Radio on Saturdays 10.30-12.20 on the FM dial and i could not tell you if there is any other radio related programming regarding the SAAFL in 2011 at say...7am

I didnt really cut a long story short  but hopefully made it a little clearer.

Clear as mud. no thanks for that. remember the grassroots show and wondered where it went as was pretty good. no one last year knew where it was. why a internet show, never herd of it. cant listen to that in the car 2 well. who watches internet shows anyway

why the SAAFL got rid of grassroots is beyond me and as for this internet show gee wow what a success

i dont think they know how many people and clubs actually watched the show people still ask me now what happened to it...
you've gota keep on keep'n on .........

Funny how people review history
I was told by our delegate that Grassroots was dumped because noone watched it and the clubs didnt want to pay the cost anymore
The internet show was proposed well after it was dumped. It ran on sponsorship and didnt cost the clubs.

It never replaced Grassroots.

But, hey, never let the facts get in the way of a good story in the media

Good luck to the new show though great idea

I believe your historical review is incorrect on all three facts but it really doesnt matter as the its ancient history now. Im not looking to get into any arguments over how things went down or who said or did what.
As for cooking lessons and guitars. I think theres already enough shows in all forms of media with these elements and can guarantee that they will not appear on this show whilst im involved. I still find it hard to believe that they featured in a previous show  .

Actually our delegate just rang me and said Im wrong on one issue. The show was dumped by the league not the clubs. As I pointed out, I didnt say it was dumped by the clubs.

Im only talking third hand mate, all I know is I hope you do well as I do miss the GR team although I heard a rumour Thatcher is a spy in Afganistan now

Do they have a team? Kabul Bombers?

No worries mate, but yeah that was the key correction. Dumped by the league.
The great thing potentially about the new show is that all club coaches are gonna be welcome into the studio to promote their club. Should make for some interesting listening going into some big games throughout the year.
As for Thatcher didnt Billy Joel sing it.."Thatcher in Afganastan!" ....Now wheres my guitar at ;)

As for the station on the dial. I only found out on Australia day and i went to the station and met the boss who seems excited by the show. I believe the station will be released at the end of next month. Obviously you and others are interested in where it will be but it WONT be revealed until all contractual elements are in place.
I dont think the highly overpaid and grossly unknowledgeable of GrassRoots Footy duo of KG and The General are to worried by a potential program filled with Amateur League content by the people in the league....But i cant say the same for all others who are in the Football world.

Was not even aware the kg and the general did anything on amater footy wristy. What do they do? What station are they on?

If you watch it, you'll still be unaware of what they do

You said watch it. thought it was a radio show. confused  what am I watching or listening to and what station are they on? confused shirtfront

You could watch it on the web mate, not sure if it graced the airwaves, i think it was just a feed off the web.

Maybe you should start the week early to give yourself a test run before the season starts? Preview for the season etc and player movements.

  This is funny because it's all true...Not sure you guys could afford Moose to be a regular on the show, his time is precious now given he is prestigous role as El Presidente.

Yep i know. This is based on the fact that we are trying to get the product right and basing our contents on facts. Prior to round 1 there will be a lot of speculation and here say. We want to make sure we get it right and dont just discuss recipes and B/S! We will probably do some sort of dry run for April 2/ Round 1 but it wont go to air. Its a long season and we want to make sure when we do start we have plenty of info and stats on each club.
