Re: Happy Birthday

Postby A Mum » Mon Feb 14, 2011 10:10 am

It was 21 years ago today - as I sat on the bed reading the valentines messages in The Adelaide Advertiser that I felt a slight twinge in my tummy.

3 hours later whilst I was in the lounge room and 'A Dad' was making himself a sandwich in the kitchen the following conversation ensued...

(to be) A Mum "Ummm - I think my waters just broke"
(to be) A Dad "How do you know?"
(to be) A Mum "Well... they are running down my legs"
(to be) A Dad " "

"A Dad' dropped the sandwich making midway and had me gathered into the car within minutes...lol.

I had no idea what 'A Dad' was doing a few minutes later - when at the South Road/Beach Road traffic lights he jumps out of the car - runs across the other side of the road and flags down a police patrol car

Yep a police escort to the hospital - sirens blarring and flashing - through red lights and all - I didn't know whether to laugh at the happenings - or cry at the pain of another contraction !!

It turned out there was no rush though as 'A Son' wasn't born for another 9 hrs...lol.

Once pulled up outside of emergency and after the big rush of it all - 10 minutes from Hackham to Flinders Medical Centre - (and no expressway back then) - 'A Dad' and 'A policeman' realise that "Hey we know each other" and start a conversation :? .... I'm thinking like "HELLLLOOO" "Woman about to have a baby - I don't think we rushed here so you two can have a catch up"

Anyway ... Happy Birthday to my biggest boy 21 today O:)

Where have all the years gone *sigh*
