So is everyone heading along to the AGM on Sunday arvo? 1:30pm start at St Marys Park this Sunday! With the majority of the current Executive Committee planning on stepping down, i for one am hoping for a big turn out and to see some new blood join up to help run this great game!

ONKAS 1-5. Na Fianna are very good in the wet and with a drinking function and fringe events to follow our game we should field a full team this week . I dont however think Onkas would be favourites for the Cup that mantle would sit with the boys in purple and green.
Irish 1-5 over Port. wet conditions will favour the I.A,s
Flinders 1-5 over Mitcham. Should the Reds vast array of skillfull Irishmen and Soccer players show up then this contest will be considerably more lopsided than 1-5 and would be closer to 11-15. Both teams coming off a forfeit so hopefully for the last game of the year they represent their clubs well.
Goats 6-10 over the Taints. They were clinical last week but i dont expect too much action in this one as finals positions have already been determined

I do believe he returned home early due to injury a wedding and the fact that 1 of his room mates, wont mention names but it wasnt Millsey or Backy, was a jack arse and the poor lad had to keep hiding Zues' stuff. That was hilarious I think Swooper will agree. Not everyone could room with the great MATTHEW DOECKE.

Good to see the mind games starting to increase prior to the finals. The title of ‘premiership favorite’ will be thrown around right up until March 13th. In regards to mind games, I’m not getting involved in tipping as to not reveal my thoughts!

As for Na Fianna performance tonight, it will be better than last weeks as we will have some additional players back tonight due to one final bonding session for the boys prior to the finals! It may just be a packed house in the gaelic park bar by 9 30! This aside, the result tonight is as relevant as 2/3rds or 5/8ths of f all… It’ll just be important for us to get some form back before we enter the finals.

As for the hiding of gear, everyone found that hilarious!!! Don't think Bevo slept greatly that night...

Looks like the friday night sides will be greeted by some very pleasant weather. The ball will be spending more time on the game and expect it to be slippery and the skills to be down as it has been dome time since the teams have had a wet weather hit out. Only two games tonight it seems with 5 on sunday...

Tonight Onkas v NaFianna. Onkas still the team to beat despite the goats and saints buildind momentum at the business end of the season. Both teams had a easy hit out last week with Onkas smashing the Port boys and the NaFianna boys being understrength and being smashed by the Goats. NaFianna boys are like the 80s Port magpies and love the wet where the unfashionable gets results. They can use their true gaelic skills against the more footy background sides. Only issue this week is Onkas have some real talent in their line up who have a fair bit of round ball experience and can play in the wet. The Irish boys up forward, Wado, Anto, Sammy and the elusive GP will be able to get the job done against a desparate NaFianna team looking to rebound from last week. Expect the Rod Carter of gaelic Tommy Javor to be welcomed back to the team and get a work out as Onkas win by 6-10 points

Big interest Sunday is which teams will show up. Weather should be ok which makes for a big day of gaelic.

Mitcham v Flinders. Both teams should be fresh thats for sure with both holding the white flag up last week for whatever reasons. Both teams have underperformed in the latter part of the season especially when their best team on the park is competitive with any side in the comp. Flinders to get a few extras out and have too much strength for the Hawks and win by 6-10 points.

Irish v Port. Irish lads haven't played for a month up against the Port boys who have had a game each week since the bye weekend. The pace of the Port boys will worry the old men of the Irish in Emmett, Stiffy and Doecke if they get it together. Interesting who will show for the Irish as they have looked to miss Wark and Paully in the last couple of weeks when they did play. Irish to be too strong in a close one by 1-5 points.

Game of the round sees the Goats and Saints hit it out. Unless a monumental unbelievable result the goats have sealed 2nd spot. Saints though will be looking to continue their run of wins especially against the goats who have moved into a few peoples "team to beat". Two classy sides who run and attack the goals with good finishes on either side. Goats have welcomed back some extra height in big bad bustling Rossco which has strenghtened their setup and gives an extra scoring option up front. The defensive pressure of the Saints is probably best in the comp and they have the unique ability to strangle sides in a contest with their tight checking defence. In a good contest expect goats to get up 1-5 points

Mitcham 8.10 def Flinders 9.5 in an interesting contest.
St Brendans had the Goats on toast leading by 5 points going with the breeze and with all the play in their 45 but 2 late goals saw the Purple and green man machine steal the game by a point in what was a most unlikely victory.

So the major finals this week are...
1 v 2 double chance, winner to GF IS Onkas v W.I
3 v 4 Elimination Final see St. Brendans play Na Fianna

It certainly felt like the Taints snatched defeat from the jaws of victory after dominating the first 15 mins of the second half and missing a plethora of chances. But Western Ireland probably should have gone up by more into half time after being the better team in the first half. Either way the result doesnt affect the final standings and I dont think has made it any easier to predict who will lift the Hannigan cup this year.

Na Fianna are definately the side with the least form out of the 4 heading into finals but as the Taints showed last year if you can get your best 15 on the park when it counts then you are always a chance no matter the odds*

Na Fianna and the Taints split the points this year with both teams winning easily enough when they did win. Onkas and the Purple Goats also has a win each when playing each other. This weeks finals are harder to pick than a broken nose. Its safe to assume that all 4 teams will have their very best 15 on the park. Hopefully it will be 2 ripping contests.
My tips with no certainty on either game is Onkas by 1-5 and Na Fianna to find a way back from the form trough and upset the reigning champs in a thriller also by 1-5.

was a good game between 2 sides not holding back before the finals. both sides full strength and looking to get form running into the finals. End result showed there is still nothing between the 2 sides. Did notice a number of onkas lads watching the game surely taking notes. This weeks finals are sure to be good viewing.

i am going to pick the taints to knock off the finns. Last 2 weeks you cant read much into it but form is always a good indicator. taints to strong 6-10 points

and for a spot in the GF i am going to pick my goats to get over the line in another close game. 1-5. look for some good battles all over the pitch. And if Gabe does happen to play look for some great skills. Always between onkas and the goats its a physical game and i am sure it will be on again. Onkas will have to be the favourite with only 1 loss all year thou.

The ladders are finalised, and the semi final fixtures are up on the website! Still some discussion to see wether the "Div 2 finals" will go ahead however.

Also the GFHASA Presentation Night is planned for 4 March 2011 back at the Irish Club! Always a top, top, top night which sees the Team of the Year announced, as well as the players of the season awards given out. Great way to meet other members of the gaelic footy scene, and the night is completed with a brief walk to the Garden of Unearthly Delights at the Fringe - and possibly PJ O'Briens! More info to come!
