 did i hear right tonight that a northern club has had eviction orders served on them for non payments to the salisbury council and other creditors. if true , it;s disturbing to football in the northern suburbs, we dont want to loose another club.

Seems this rumor is gaining some serious momentum, must be some truth to it!

fellow poster's,

it is with great sadness that i confirm that the paralowie sports and social club will be no longer as of the close of bussiness on sunday the 27th of march. this is the results of many on-going issues that can not be fix. it is my belief that the council were going to close the doors and take back ownership of the building during the week ending 26/02/2011 but thanks to peter clarkson going to the council explaining we have 2 sides in cricket finals they extending it till the 27/03/2011. it was only about 3 or 4 years again the council wanted to build units there i guess that time has come.....

after seeing all the emotion that L/M has just gone through with smithfield it really is a sad day in my opinion that clubs like your smithfield's and paralowie's are closing the doors. to be honest it has'nt really sunk in yet dont think it really will till the 27th rolls around.
to add to late what happens now with a side pulling out of div5 and now div6???

i personally have been involved in paralowie for over 26 years played 199 games of footy there and who knows how many games of cricket as paralowie have never kept games played of cricket! but i've never played cricket for anyone else and have played every year at paralowie since the age of 6 or 7 with adam barnes.

along the way i've made life long friends, been through births, deaths, marriages and plenty more moments i'll never forget like i said it just has'nt sunk in yet that paralowie wont be there any longer. i just cant believe it right now i'm lost for words...........
you've gota keep on keep'n on .........

Wow what a start to the season for all the wrong reasons.

Going out to northern suburbs clubs for a game, you always know you are going to be in for a contest. To see 2 clubs shut up shop is devastating, not only for the clubs involved and its players, but for the comp itself.

To all the smithfield and paralowie club men / women from presidents to players and your boot lacer. Cant think what you all would be going through....especially for the people that have given so much of their lives to the club.

Definately a sad week for northern suburbs footy :(

As a youth worker who works with disadvantaged young people in the justice system getting them connected to football clubs (especially in the Northern suburbs) in many instances has been a huge part of them staying out of trouble. The connection to positive people in the community and a sense of belonging made through these clubs is often the most positive part of their lives. Councils should have a think about the negative effect on their community of shutting down yet another avenue to getting young people connected. Shame!

There is a suggestion on the paralowie thread that Mitchell Park will most probably not take up the offer of coming up to Div 6 and if this is the case we will more than likely have a couple bye rounds each. Interesting! I thought that the clubs finishing 3rd and 4th in Div 7 would get an opportunity if Mitchell Park passed it up. Maybe not? What do you other posters think about the possibility of byes. Personally, my body could do with a couple extra weeks off each season. :)

My sentiments exactly. Probably use one of the bye weekends to finally head over and see the Woodsmen play at the 'G

Ssssh...we wanna have a bye

There's probably a reluctance to have teams that finished third, fourth, fifth etc move up a division.

Here here, my old body would love a couple of byes. Now hope they change the fixture so we don't have the bye 1st round.

Although I wouldn't really mind if a team came up though as long as the club was ready and competitive.

Carey very sad week for you and your club. Hope all the people from Parlowie find a new home somewhere else and aren't lost to the great game (players, support staff, supporters etc).

Carey - that's bad news about Paralowie. There's many things you guys can be proud about - the 2008 GF in Div 7 was an epic one and I won't forget the passion that inspired the celebrations of the many many supporters on the ground after the siren.

PissAnt - very good comment, football clubs are very important to the community... and communities should consider these impacts when making decisions about the future of football and sports clubs

As a Div 6 player, without any disrespect to any teams aspiring to come up... WE'LL TAKE THE BYE!
