Does anyone know anything about this or have I been taken for a ride?

If true, Geez that would be a massive job and very hard to pick respective clubs team let alone one for the whole of SFL.
I wonder who would be on such a panel and how they would differentiate between players from different eras? ( especially from players 70-80 years ago against current era players that are fresh in the panels minds)

It would also be hard to be involved without some biased to the club you played for/supported.

I wonder how many players from each decade would represent this team?

As I said it may not be true, but could cause some good discussion on this site as well I thought.

Yep, all clubs were asked to submit their team of all time. Every team who was ever a part of the league I believe just to make it a bit tougher for the selectors whoever they may be.

Do you know what Matt has been up to footy wise over the last few years. I haven't seen he or his older brother in the SFL for at least 5 years now.

Matt was always pretty scratchy with his skills but extremely hard at the footy. Not sure how he'd go if he hasn't played for a few years.

Would be 30 or just over by now

I know he does triathlons to keep fit since giving up footy, but if he makes a return to the game in the SFL he will carve up opposition forwards.

You'll find that the sign you drove past at the oval was a game of cricket.

Clubs have already lodged them to the SFL.
Heard the Messenger are doing one club per week as an article, starting with Kangarillia in their next edition

well getting the ball rolling lets put some names out there (in preseason theres not much else to discuss), I assume most posters know the last couple of decades or so.
Lets put out names for any teams. not just the ones you support, especially looking at guys that mite have a crack at the actual SFL team as well.

Reading the messenger it says the "criteria" they are using is : Games played, premierships, goals, and league medals.

I'll Start with some obvious ones

Brighton - Jolly would be a lock for both winning 3 Mails and a flag (also hall of famer)
- Betterman also won 2 mails ,and a flag
Morphett Vale - Fishlock seems pretty obvious, 300 A grade and 4 flags (also hall of famer)
Happy Valley - Twigden has won multiple flags and was best on in a couple from memory
Kangarilla - Thorpe has won a couple of div 2 mail medals I think (also a hall of famer)

Geez already getting tough. alot are midfielders as well.

Forwards you can go on total goals, tons kicked, and leading goal kicker awards as a bit of a guide.

Morphett Vale - Pollard - 3 tonnes, 3 leading goal kickers and 5 flags
- Taylor - 3 tonnes, 3 leading goal kickers and 4 flags
Noarlunga (among others)- Hibberd, 3 leading goal kickers and a flag
Willunga - Hams 1 tonne, 3 leading goal kickers and a flag
Mclaren - Wuttke, (before my time) but 3 leading goal kickers

Not sure which one of these would have the most total goals but that mite have some sway also.

Back line players are very hard as there are very little stats to go on. ( I dont envy the selectors thats for sure)

I think I will leave my rant there,

Any one got any thoughts or anything to add????
I know I am leaving out alot of the old gaurd that should be discussed also (Croser etc. but they are before my time)

If this discussion gets going someone should make it a new thread ( I dont know how :? )

Nice work bag the points. Give us there rough positions as well.
Will be interesting to see how many names mentioned here actually get a gig in the side.

Head over it- I reckon bag the points is closer to the mark.
I reckon 80% or more will be from guys who played before most on here were born!!

It has started a good little discussion though.
And I'm sure will cause even more discussion once it is released!!!
