NW signed up Subiaco forward Geoff Clark
Clark made little impact with 1 goal in 2 games in 1978
QUESTION
Geoff Clark, was he injured in 1978 ?

Would that be a record number of goals for ST in a g/f ?
What is the most SANFL Goals in a Grand Final ?

I consider 9 goals in a G/f to be quite freakish
Unless he was spoon fed by that dynamic Sturt team

Geoff Clark played 15 reserves games and booted 35 goals, mainly at CHF. He couldn't swing a regular game in the League team due to the depth of talent at the club.
He was a smooth moving player with sound skills. Although he made little "impact" in 1978, in 2007 he was dismissed as ATSIC Chairman, being found guilty of taking part in 2 pack rapes of Carol Stingel in 1971.

Interesting side light. None of possibly South Australia's 3 greatest players of the 60-70's era won an All Australian Selection
Russell Ebert, Barrie Robran & Paul Bagshaw

PORT ADELAIDE
As mentioned Woodville broke a 14 year hoodoo winning at Alberton
Also mentioned on 16/2 was that SA beat PA in a NFL game, thier first win in 10 years v PA
That being the case when did SA next beat PA ?
PA beat SA another 2 times this season, so the answer will be 1979 and onwards

GL were averaging 121.3 points per game
Scores were highish in 1978 so far
It made for attractive spectating
I like watching footy thesedays, but it has become a lot more defensive

Yeah it's an interesting fact but ultimately meaningless in someways. The only way you could get All Australian was if you were picked in the side that was named after a carnival series. Robran played in 2 (69 & 72) and Bagshaw in 3 - if I'm not mistaken - (66.69.72) and from memory SA hardly excelled in those series making selection hard. In fact I would think WA had twice (at least) the amount of All Australians that SA had in that time.
