We won today by 41 points. It was a great start to year for us, couldn't be happier with our performance today. We were hard at the footy, we didn't drop off or switch off and most importantly there were no passenges, which was geat to see. The umpiring was interesting and very inconsistant and there a few tussles but nevertheless a very good game and start to the season.

It was aso good to see the B grade and C grade get up and have a win to make it 3 from 3 across all grades.

Yeah you may be right there Dee Man.

Unfortunately my opinion was not required, as you know I wasn't backward in offering it.

PS I thought I was holding back on today's performance, I really should call it as I see it. ;)

well done woody south on a win at thebbie they looked good when they had the ball but if there happy with the way they played they will struggle this year.. that would be one of the worst games i have been involved with brahma in all my 7 years that we have played.. some fine tuning and players back from cricket trip and its looking up.. woody south have an impressive forward with his IQ matches his Guernsey number.. (14) for opposition coaches

3 guys got knocked out for souths today but there were great bumps and tackles which weren't illegal and one guy threw one to many punches

Check what you say before you say it. For your information number 14 will be one of the best players in the division this year and if u didn't know he did make your full back look like a headless chicken running around.. The three know outs weren't with in the law. Maybe one which deserved a free for in the back. The other two were hits behind the play. Last time I checked that wasn't fair

Good start by JC the new Plympton coach breaking hoodo of losing at rosies for the last million years!
Great to see the youth injected into the club this year. The boys were first to the ball and the takling pressure was excellent. Very speedy team indeed!

Well what a start to the season (for all the wrong reasons) for the valley boys.

The A's and B's ventured down to North Haven today and were soundly beaten in both grades by 2 very determined and much improved haven outfits. Particularly with the A grade, todays performance would rank 2nd only to the hectorville drubbing we copped last year as the worst performance we have displayed since charlie has been at the helm. Everything we had worked towards in our pre-season and our trial matches went out the window as we lacked the skill, endevour and especially the discipline of the haven lads and subsequently got our backsides handed to us.

The most disappointing aspect today though was our skill level and discipline. Some very uncharacteristic acts sparked a few late match fights (which was pointless as the game was well and truly over) and fingers crossed that our lads learned a few harsh lessons today.

Positives were few and far between for us but i did think the start of the match, and patches through the 3rd and last qtrs when we decided to play the ball and not the man showed us that we can play some really good footy. Loz Di Palma and Gibbo in the ruck were IMO the only players for us to win their positions on the day which does say alot about havens dominance.

As for North Haven, i wont back away in saying they are a much improved outfit on last year and you blokes should be proud of your turn around thus far. Yes its early but you reminded me alot of us in 2007 when we were saved from relegation. You have taken your lifeline, worked hard over pre-season, recurited some very good players and most of all, developed an ability to work for each other and back yourselves in (even if you made mistakes). Any sides that think your a walk over should be prepared for a shock just as we were today. Im by no means saying your world beaters but it looks to me that your going in the right direction which is a credit to your club. Well done.

As for the valleys, well a week is a long time in footy and id be bracing for a few tough nights on the track, but thats what we need if we are to challenge the hawks at home next week.

I saw my first amateur league match today and was disgusted in the way Brahma Lodge dealt with being beaten. Apparently it is not unusual though. As a player laid flat on his back after a solid shirt front, another Cats player was king hit 50m off the ball. To top it o, throwing punches after the match, come on lads clean your act up.

On Woody Souths game, they looked good at times but gifted 5-6 goals to the Lodge with poor disposable resulting in turnovers. They manage to get out to a two goal lead in the second, third and fourth quarters only to let the Tigers back in the game. They'll definitely be happy with the win, but know there best is still to come.

Plympton next week for the cats to make it two from two.

The Lodge will get a few players back and strengthen, they looked a bit underdone today but give them a few weeks and they'll be firing, hopefully just playing the game though.

Well done to Woodies in all grades, showed desperation that was lacking by our guys. I thought our C's didn't play too bad, 8-9 guys who hadnt played before which was great to see. They broke down on the HF line, and woodies capatalised on their chances.

In the B's, well that was embarrassing on our behalf. We lacked fight, skill and teamwork in the first half, played marginally better in the second half which will give us something to bring into next week's tough match vs Lutheran. Indigenous fella for Woodies, MJ?? towelled our midfield up, played very well. It was a very frustrating game to be a part of.
Must be something about about Thebby oval, our worst loss for the year last year came there, now this. But taking nothing away from Woodies, they dominated maybe all but 10-15 minutes of the match.

The A grade was very disappointing, the lads looked to be rolling along in first gear, and never got out of it. Not sure if it was because they expected to just rock up and take the points, or if there was a few of the guys under done fitness wise. The FF for Woodies is a gun, very very quick off the mark, the only way to stop him is to have someone sit in the hole 30-40 out. The supply into the 50 was fairly decent too!! The fella who looks like Mark Zanotti absolutely dominated in the guts until he got laid out late in the match, and the ruckman was handy as well. A couple bad injuries out of the match as well for us, would imagine a few changes on Thursday night. The general Matty Leigh played a great game down back, as well as new recruit Tom Proctor.

As for the after the siren incident, all I can say is disappointing, and I'm sure I am not the only one at the club who feels this way.

sour grapes much... you lost to a side who were better then youon the day. stop making excuses... with comment like "the they will struggle this year if they play like they did today", makes you sound silly. its round 1 you lost, no reason to panic, the lodge will still be round the mark...

Firstly, thank you to all the brahma people who can accept the lose. Look it wasn't an easy win and credit to you guys kept fighting hard. I think a couple of bad incidents at the end ruined what was a good game of football. Also, for the comments made above I think they were uncalled for and was a personal attack on a guy who just wants to go out and have a kick with his mates. So thank most of you for a good tight slog and a very well contested game.

And this is why i wont play amatuer football.

I have work on Sundays i cant afford for some hack who cant get a kick and cant handle losing to belt me from behind play while im not looking.

People wonder why participation numbers are dropping, this is half the problem.

Well that set of results gives us no real indication yet
Plympton & Westies look to be the front-runners and the rest of the pack seem to be pretty even at this stage. At least there should be no easy games again in div. 5.
