I was able to come up with a team in which no one played league for Torrens or Woodville, and played League before playing AFL.
The exception though is Skipworth who debuted with the Crows before he debuted for the Eagles.

Excellent side. No room for Nathan Bock?

I did have him in there originally but took him out when I remembered Breuer. But I've put him back in there and made Crowell the emergency. ;)

Jay Schulz, Kent Kingsley and Brian Harris are three that came through the junior ranks but did not play league.

F: Werner Mulvihill Schache
HF: Fotia Roberts Pyman
C: Stretch B.Lindsay M.Long
HB: Schwartz Prymke
B: Bulluss Cox
R: Rendell Weidemann Payze
Int: Mills
President: Wayne Jackson

I'm going to claim Schache as I can't find any other Torrens players! I do know there was at least one pre 1945 player to go to the VFL, but can't remember off hand. I think he was a ruckman.

You mean Doug Cox? Yes, we can include him, started at Torrens in 1979; went to St.Kilda in 1981 and was involved in that clearance saga. Spent two season there, not sure what he did in 1983 but in 1984 he played 3 games for Essendon before returning to Torrens in 1985.

Damien McCarthy didn't play for Torrens, only for Eagles.
Edit: you mean Stephen McCarthy - he played for Melbourne before going to Torrens.

Alan Schwartz was drafted by Essendon, but didn't play for them.

I dunno, can I claim John Roberts? If that's ok with everybody else? ;)

Sorry .... Doug Cox of course. You'd love to claim Dean Cox I bet :)
I did mean Damien McCarthy - he was on the Crows 1st list so I figured he had to be with either Woodville or Torrens in 1990?
For the trivia buffs, Allan Schwartz was picked up in some sort of mid-season draft by the Crows in 1992. Further injuries left him game-less with the Crows too. Claim him tho I reckon he was on 2 AFL club lists

It was Woodville McCarthy played for (and North). Strange that I have him as two different players - one for North and Woodville; the other for Eagles. I'll have to change that.

Ok, I've claimed Schwartz. :)

I think I've found the player I was after:

Len Mills played 90 games and kicked 106 goals for Torrens between 1921 and 1928; and was a member of the 1924 premership side. There is an entry for an L.J "Tiny" Mills in the VFL/AFL Players Encylopaedia who played 2 games and kicked 3 goals for St.Kilda in 1929 and 8 games and 17 goals for Hawthorn in 1930.

It reads: A giant ex-South Australian who at 6'8'' (203 cms) was the tallest player ever to appear in League football when he played. In 1931, it was reported he had departed for parts unknown.

I guess it's the same player, so in he goes.

Edit: It is indeed the same player:

Interesting how he apparently disappeared.

You're both wrong, it was North Melbourne.

Lazy lot aren't we?

Scott Lee came from Hawthorn (part of Platten deal) so I am not sure if we can claim him. If we have to put Cotton in, then we are battling, along with Hurn (1 season down - I am sure he will command a starting 18 spot in a few years time though) and Thomas (1 season, few games). Sansbury is another in that same boat. I would have Schwerdt on the wing, McAdam in the centre and Dew on half-forward.

Thanks for the push start Hondo.
