The missus and I + another couple and their little 18 month old daughter are spending a couple of weeks on the EP in mid June.

We've got 5 days in Port Lincoln and the 5 days in Streaky Bay. Any suggestions of things we might be able to do? Day trips, walks, nice beaches etc are the things we're after.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Snorkel in the tuna pens over in Lincoln, I'm told its a brilliant experience, not cheap though.

When you are in Streaky take a day trip North to Point Brown. Its only about 70km away. Some amazing natural beaches that are pretty much untouched. I think there are something like 27 beaches on the point. There is even a section called the whaling station which you can see why it obviously named that.

Incidently I think the Point Brown is up for sale at the moment.

Baird Bay is my favourite place in SA. Just south of Streaky Bay.

Will be pretty bloody cold for a swim in June but I would still go down there to see the dolphins and sea lions.

Just park yourself in the Streaky pub. Plenty of nice pictures of beaches on the wall.

In Port Lincoln they have a wildlife park not too far out of town which is really good for kids. They get to touch and pat all sorts of animals and birds.

go to Whalers Way just out of Pt Lincoln, some speccy coast line
you have to pick up keys from the info centre in town as it is private property, well worth a look

Anyone know what the accommodation is like at North Shields (Port Lincoln) these days?

I went on a school camp there as a kid in the early 80's, when it was like a dormitory, but I believe its more of a caravan park these days, and has some decent cabins? Anyone know? Might be heading over to Lincoln in early October for a few days.

My niece is playing tennis over there, my brother is going too, and I've heard they're staying at North Shields. So I'm just sussing out what its like there in case I decide to go over for a trip and stay at the same place.

Around Lincoln you can visit the Port Lincoln National Park. Plenty of good driving for 2WD, and if you want 4WD go to the Coffin Bay National Park. Both cost about $10 per vehicle from memory. Lincoln National Park is on the way to Whalers Way, about 15 minutes from town, whilst Coffin Bay will take you 45 minutes. Coffins is worth a look and a lunch if you havent been, nice little coastal town.

The Animal Farm was called Greenpatch, now Glen Forest Animal Park. It has all your standard stuff, feed some kangaroos, pat a koala, wombats, rabbits, a big bird avery etc etc. Not overly exciting, a little run down. About 30 minutes out of town.

Tuna Swim can be organised through Visitor Info once you are there, 2 companies now so a bit of competition but very rarely full for an extended period. This leaves from the Marina. You can also do a Marina tour, looking at a few nice houses aboard a little boat for an hour or so. Other than that a few drives to coastal towns like Tumby Bay and a spot of fishing or golf should kill some time.

If you plan on doing a fishing tour save it for Bairds Bay, that way if there arent too many fish you can always go and visit the sea lions. This is close to Streaky.

Also the caravan park at North Shields was bought 5 or so years ago and left to dilapidate by the purchaser in a hope that all permanent residents would move and it could be subdivided and sold as waterfront blocks. An issue with corrosion of the sea wall has since put a stop to this I believe and it is being restored to run as per normal as far as I know. The Kirton Point park is much better though, as is the Kirton Point Cabin Park.

They are the 2 I would have suggested after going there every 2 weeks for 3 years
The Lincoln Hotel is good if you want to spend the money.
If you stay at the Hilton try the chinese joint next door
