And they should be selling them too, instead of locking them away and saying "oh we have the rights to them etc."
It's not as if they'll lose any money if people copy the videos - they don't sell them anymore to begin with!

I can't remember the fully story but I can find out. As I recall, the rights are not owned by the SANFL, but in fact owned by a private concern who for some reason want to keep them locked away, and not for public consumption. I guess it's like people who purchase valuable works of art and keep them locked in a vault rather than display them in a museum.

Difference being, artwork is individual.
You can't lock away 100 copies of Brett Whiteley's Alchemy..
Maybe someone should look in to finding out WHO has the rights.
(and who has WHAT rights)

A couple of years ago I wandered into VideosDirect2U and asked about SANFL on DVD.
I was told that they have the rights prior to the ABC's coverage (from 1991).
There was supposed to be a DVD authoring company that was going to produce DVDs for VideosDirect2U, but for whatever reason, this has still not happened.
Are they called the Video Warehouse now? Perhaps someone working close to the shop can follow this up?
