the little blue reflectors are not there to indicate the middle of the road. they are there to indicate a fire plug. the place where a fire truck (cfs or mfs) plugs into to fill the truck, or use it directly to fight a fire through the trucks pump.

they are off centre to give an easy reference as to what side of the road it is on. it might only save the fire fighter a few seconds, but that can make a huge difference in an emergency.

Massive help at night with finding fire plugs, also cant be easily vandalised and removed like the red and white indicator posts

I know from my youth caddying for dad that if you hit a hole-in-one you have to buy everyone in the clubhouse a drink...but what happens if you hit 2 in the same round as a local chap here did??? ...

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-n ... d-13680995

A golfer has defied estimated odds of 67 million-to-one to score two holes-in-one in the same round.

Rob Tyson, 67, of Elgin, Moray, used his six iron to score his first ace on the fourth hole, then took nine shots on the next due to the excitement.

However, he more than made up for the blip when he used the six iron again for another hole-in-one on the seventh.

He said: "I've been playing golf for 35 years and have never had a hole in one."

Mr Tyson added of the feat at Elgin Golf Club: "Now when one comes along, three holes later I get another one as well."

i have actually seen that question raised several times, mainly by "older" people complaining that the "lazy" council worker didnt put them in the middle of the road  (not a comment on your good self lightning)

good point too Sturtman, i hadnt realised that. the old style posts were a bit of a target werent they. and more easily obscured by roadside plants.

i only know about them as i used to be in the SES and we did a training swap with our local CFS. we trained them in Basic Rescue, and they trained us in Basic Firefighting. i havent had to use the knowledge yet (thankfully) but the inlaws on the farm keep threatening to drag me with them if their pagers go off while i am visiting

I actually put those blue reflectors down to support myself through uni and it does take a fair bit for them to come up off the ashphalt too, they do last a lot longer.

Pretty sure that the reason the Blue reflectors actually came in was that when the E&WS was sold off, the upkeep/replacement of the Red and White poles was totally forgotten on the sale contract.Thats why the old oned have nearly disappeared. The blue reflectors were the cheapest option from that point on.

mine has been doing that too lately, but what makes it worse is that because i'm in a unit, I still get the hammering from next door too.

Apparently there are little hammer stoppers you can attach to your pipes which you can buy from Bunnings but that's all I know (I haven't got around to going to get any yet.), not sure on cost or anything or what they actually do.

I swear i'll stop asking about injuries... eventually 8)

Anyhoo, i've managed to mangle my right hand. My ring finger is okay, just bruised and swollen. It's the index finger i'm worried about. I got it kicked in the game last week and managed to chip two bits of bone off my knuckle. It's swollen, bruised, and 'ouchy'. My coach has pretty much told me i'm playing this week no matter what.

Is there anything i can do for it/ cover it with in the game?

I don't mean to sound 'like a girl' (haha), but if it gets hit in the game on Saturday i will probably cry :( ...

Why is it, when entrusted to enter a spooky looking house of a suspected murderer the hottest actress in the "tele-drama" must go in the back door* of the house on her own?

More than likely a dark house with no creaky floor boards so there is virtually no sound being made.
