Balak 1-39: Can see HWE getting a few back off the break and these are historically competitive contests.
Hamley 1-39: Huge news with Lockwood out. Opens this contest right up. Loser goes to bottom of the ladder.
Mallala 1-39: Pies are back. Niklaus out is huge.
Right in front of me. RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME!

Lockwood an interesting one. Had Wednesday and Thursday off work cause he was crook, didn't train thursday night cause he was crook and then gets a game. Hmmm

I heard he rocked up to the first training too, where about 15 people rocked up.

Freeling denied Max Doherty's clearance twice now. He trained with Balaklava again on Tuesday night. Will probably be out there again tonight.

Sounds more like that old chestnut - "you were not available for the ass games so we will suspend you for next week" actually. Doesn't matter a flying fig whether you are sick or what - league rules still suck big time and continue to be applied without an equitable thought.

Did Ned escape suspension? I hear Tallan got a game even though he has pulled a hammy, and Lee got one as well for not making himself available. Just ridiculous.

Have to agree with you Jumbo, if you are injured and its clear that you wont be available that weekend why give the suspension  . Im all for Representative football but some of the suspensions seem harsh, rules are rules though

i will cop it for this post but oh well, its a forum designed to have people express their opinions and well thats what im going to do and my opinion is....

This leagues association selectors and people that make the decisions on suspensions are a joke and need to have a good hard look at themselves!!! REALLY

how can you suspend a guy who has had wednesday and thursday off work and not been able to go to training thursday night due to being too crook... What would you like him to do go to training still and just be there so he can spread his germ around to all the squad members?? or do you think coming out in 3 or 4 degrees when having a cold is a good idea and the best way to get better so he could play on the weekend(because he did make himself available to play) Again what a joke  They say he didnt ring the coach to let him know well im not sure what time they expected him to call but he waited till he thought the coach would be off the track but was beaten by the coach ringing him which he missed the call and rang him straight back.. explain what was going on and told the coach he was keen to play still. all in all not sure what he has done wrong in all this.. except get a cold in this weather! HOW DARE HIM!!!!

To add to this at the first association training session, 15 blokes trained 32 were in the squad and out of the 15 whitty trained and he was an original squad member, so there were 17 or 18 guys not show up to the first one whats happened to these guys??? Dylan was there that night, why would he go to that training and not turn up to the second if he didnt want to play??? There answer to this was "oh the first one wasnt compulsory" :D well there is 32 letters that will verify that it was and it has just seemed to be forgotten about

all in all its a shambles and makes the league look ordinary, i know people will get on here and say this and that about it but think about it for a second its not AFL...and what did the kid really do wrong??? short answer NOTHING... surely as a football league which is talked about from the outside as being not that strong compared to the barossa etc needs to keep there best players playing.. yeah no issues with suspending someone if they dont turn up to a game or even a training and you hear there on the piss, thats a different story but to do it to someone who is sick and has his boss confirming that... come on get real!!! someone might have to put the drink down so he can see whats really going on!!!

And theres my queue.

Mongoose you are so right, it is far from equitable and the league continue to make what looks to be ridiculous decisions. Last year they suspended players that were not only incapable of playing due to injury, but were so clearly injured that they could not have played for their club if they wanted to, let alone the previous week assoc game.

I really dont know the answer, the people that hand out these suspensions have played and should understand the players, but I dont believe they do.

I would like to know the rule that lockwood was suspended under maybe norm can fill us in.

Millsy is in the same boat as Lockwood it seems. Was pretty keen to play, but he had Wednesday, Thursday, Friday & Saturday off work due to being crook. When he spoke to Andy on Thursday night, he was told to ring in on Friday morning and see if he was feeling any better and able to play. Obviously he called up to say that he was too crook to play and is now copping a game. Sucks really, when a sick cert is good enough for your work where you earn your income but isn't good enough to escape penalty for missing a game of footy.

If you don't like it, change it. If you don't want to change it, it can't be that bad!
