It seems this was the ideal situation for the SACA and what they were wanting. However, I would have rather seen Lehmann stay as captain because I don't think anyone else stands out as being ready to captain next year. Only if Jason Gillespie was chosen would I be comfortable for next season. Dan Harris, Cam Borgas, Ferguson, Manou all haven't done enough to secure their spots and Cosgrove doesn't come across as the sharpest tool in the shed in his interviews. Elliott would be a step backwards and Deitz has enough on his plate being wicketkeeper/batsman.
We now have the coach and captain gone. What about the people who run the show behind the scenes. Selectors, board members - I hope there is some change there. They are just as responsible for the poor performance for the past decade.

Well, barring anything crazy happenning tomorrow at Bellerive, Tasmania's first Pura Cup final win will relegate SA to the worst record in Cup Finals since the system was introduced in 1982/83 season. Tasmania arre playing in their 4th final and should have 1 win after tomorrow. SA have played in only 3 (the lowest of all the states) and won 1. By worst I mean played in the least number, even tho they have won as many as the Tigers. I know it's splitting hairs but my main point is it's time for for SA cricket to turn things around.
PS Thanks Boof for your sterling efforts as captain and great to hear you are staying on as a player

Bit confused there...
We'd have a better percentage of winning finals, 33% ... as opposed to 25%...
*shrug*

I think hondo is referring to the fact that Tassie have made more. Weird stat though.

BOOFS CAPTAINCY OTHER YEARS RATING 8/10
He should have captained one more year.
I'd put it at 7/10, floating, for all years.
Poor batting and bowling performances gave us poor results. Little Boof (or anyone less mature and knowledgeable) could have done.

Todays Tiser suggests that Adcock has the inside runnimg for the captaincy next year.
What the F?%K r they thinking?
SERIOUSLY, Here is a guy that has made the GRAND total of 1024 first class runs at the
Pathetic average 26.9 in 22 matches over a 10 year period.
FFS no other state would stand for such MEDIOCRITY.
By appointing one the current struggling batsmen to be captain, the redbacks will surely be
destined for successive wooded spoons!

Thing is, who else IS assured of a spot besides Boof, and maybe Dizzy?
Christ, the side can change in an instant!

Thats what makes it hard!!
Having seen a shit load of cricket at the Adelaide Oval over the last probably seven seasons, the thing that always annoyed mt about Boofs captaincy was his use of bowlers. Too many times he leaves people on for way too long when they are getting smacked trying to buy a wicket. Also his field placing are odd at times. A lot of times he will start with the spinners after lunch or tea when quicks would have been a better option, and leave then on until well over the hour mark in the session. Even though we have a team that has underperformed greatly, these things are the captains decision to make, and in my view, did it poorly. Its actually something that Manou did pretty well, his use of bowlers. Keepers can tell when the bowlers are getting tired before even the bowler can.
I'm gonna break my rusty cage and run
