It's about personal choices. When Freeman was playing, I was still a boy, and had dreams of playing FF in a league team and opening the bowling for Australia. Fritzy was living the dream so far as I was concerned. State footballer, Test cricketer, who could ask for more?

I remember him stepping off the plane after his 1968 Ashes tour and suiting up for Port Adelaide in the 2nd Semi Final. From Lords direct to a final at Adelaide Oval, the stuff dreams are made of

Well, now that you mention it...

I wanted to be a premiership-winning captain-coach, perennial Ken Farmer Medallist 100+ goalkicking full-forward, first-pick state player and All-Australian in the winter.

And an Ian Chappell-tough captain of the Australian XI, coming in at first drop and averaging 50+ with the bat, first-change fast bowler and brilliant first slip during summer.

Dreams do come true!

Brucey Light and Peter Hofner. Both lightning quick wingman, hardnuts & wore #26.

Darren Smith & Paul Northeast rate right up there too for me. Neither had highlight reel careers, but when the Finals started, they both lifted a gear or two and stood up when it mattered most. Both were big reasons why Port were so successful between '88 & '99.

Have to agree GWW, What a star!

Some of the one handers he used to take had me out the backyard, footy in hand trying to replicate.

Loved his running goal for carlton (against west coast?). 3 or 4 running bounces, finished with a checkside on the run! Magic!
