There's no such thing as a bloodless coup norm, do you see this negatively affecting the club? Obviously the players will be happy, what about the rest of the club?

Is there someone waiting in the wings to take the reins from Nelson?

If you can't field an A Grade side because half the young local A Graders want to take a year or two off because they are hating playing football under the coach, how can the club continue?

The alternative of not doing anything was far more scarier. Hence the decision.

We have lots of work to do and need to support Newton as much as possible.

Congrats to old man Lowe. I hear he received a league life membership last night.

Any thoughts on a new coach FGH? Anyone in the wings that would slot into the position?

 Surely you know who the players at your own club are.

Meant more so from other clubs MC.

Our club's best shots would be Henderson, Willmer, Luke Tezacker and maybe even Rick Lamond!

Three of the top four if ya don't mind!

I heard this last night as well. The story I got told was that the club re appointed him for 2 seasons a month ago but the players weren't happy. There was a petition sent to the committee signed by the players to the effect that if he coaches they wont play. Not sure how true this is, it did come third hand.

Having said that Nelson was at the footy yesterday goal umpiring as a volunteer for the Hamley Club. If this happened on Friday night this would have been tough for him to rock up to, and does show the character of the guy. I've never spoken to him but huge kudos to him for doing this!

Can confirm the petition/survey was a factor here.
A number of the senior group not happy at all with his reappointment, so much so it inspired a few to rock up to a club meeting to air their thoughts.
I don't know when the decision was made etc but the club, IMO, has to act in the best interests of the majority of the playing group, I think about 80 per cent signed the petition/survey, what ever it was.
Lockwood and Caterall now gone from the Bombers, who I was told probably would have stayed had Nelson not been reappointed.
Not sinking the boot in here at all, just clearing the air.

Players pulling the strings is bad news all round IMHO

In a minority situation, yeah, but as FGH said, if you can't put a senior team on the field next year, the decision had to be made.

I agree Swamp. But at some point it gets to a stage where the club needs to listen to them. Especially when there were so many and especially when they were the types that usually have nothing to say.

Was just sifting through the votes for medal for this year and a well deserved winner again in Whitty, he just keeps stringing consistent games of footy together and is always in Mallala's top few each week. Dual Mail Medalist, three-time club B&F, 1 x Club Runner up B&F, Premiership Captain, 3 time Premiership player, BOG in a winning GF and an A1 Amatuer flag for ROCS. Fair resume and he's still he's only 27 or 28. Has been a handy aquisition for Mallala..... will be up there again in the clubs B&F one would assume. Would be nice to see Joel Mont win a medal one day, I think he's been runner up twice now, it doesn't seem right that he doesn't have one to his name yet, I'm sure he'll win one or two in the next few years if he can stay fit.

I felt for blokes like Moody and Mills, how they earned just 5 and 4 votes respectively is bewildering.
