Re: Adelaide and Suburban Cricket Association 2011/12
I have already qureied Craig & Phil whether 2 teams can use different types of ball in the same game. I have no intention of using a 4 piece ball un less our players want to. Never bowled with one and I assume it swings slightly differently to a 2 piece....

It doesn't swing as much. But you get a lot more seam movement off a turf deck than you do off a concrete one so to compensate a 4 piece evens the contest out for batsmen v bowler.
So what they are suggesting is not a silly idea at all just means that your ball fees for that game are going to be slightly higher.

Obviously Keswick have given it some thought as their ball fees will near double for the season for their teams using the 4 piece.

Not sure if it will be double last time I checked a decent kookaburra 4 piece were mid $60, 2 piece were mid $40

Re: Adelaide and Suburban Cricket Association 2011/12
I have always found a 4 piece, in the right condition, can swing as much of not more than a 2 piece.Having said that though, I prefer to bowl ( or used to ) with a 2 piece.
Surely you cant have one team using a different ball to the rest of the competition?

Exactly.
I still can't believe in a hard wicket comp, one team is playing on turf every second game.

I must say its an great experience to play on but is a discraceful decision by the association to allow it. Keswick and Westminster should piss off to another association if they cant find a hard wicket to play on...What an absolute farce our association is allowing this to happen!!!
What is there motivation?
Keswick or Westminster can you guys explain this??

So they'll pay and supply the balls? I reckon we should just use a sherrin If they don't! Who runs ASCA now, keswick or ASCA? Form your own competition keswick!!

We don't have to use 4 piece balls. It's up to the opposing clubs on what balls we are to use! Reckon most sides will choose a 2 piece ball

Once again Keswick follow their own rules.
They wouldn't survive 4 weeks in Adelaide Turf.

Will Keswick supply clubs 4 piece balls for 2 weeks for training purposes?

Re: Adelaide and Suburban Cricket Association 2011/12
What happens if the AFL grand final is a draw? Will the association still want teams to play on the 8th? Or will the season be put back a week? Would you play cricket while a grand final is played?
