the most dissapointing thing about pongy once again not putting an a grade in is the one club is telling the association what is going to happen

for years the pongy club has determined what grades they will field and who will play in them. e.g plenty of c grade teams no b grade
they league said a couple of years ago everyone should have an a grade no matter what
we'll have a1 a2 with a relegation system.
then they threw that out and went back to straight a grade with compass having to put 2 a grade sides in to avoid a bye.
now we are straight back where we started with pongy softing it out and rapid victor and yank not stepping up.
Gav bob and their merry men are just tooth less tigers. why not have a bye in every grade so some pathetic limp #$@$ can have a little break through out the year.
we may aswell ask compass to put 2 a grades in again

whinge over lets bring on the season and play some cricket and drink some piss....

 I wondered how long it would take for a comment from someone from the Shoes or Porties!

The Pongy, Victor, Yank & Rapid Bay situation was the precise reason I thought we should have voted differently earlier this year. But having saidd that, had both Shoes & Porties come in we would still be in the same situation with a potential bye in the A grade. It would of been interesting to see the voting if it were only Noarlunga (or Porties) applying ...

Richard Chee Quee wrote:what are peoples thoughts on a combined pongy, yank, rapid bay a grade side? would this work as an option if pongy are unable to fill a side?

Also is a rumor Aaron moules wont be playing this year, has got himself a new job as choppers under study at the turkey factory and big chop has him rostered for saturday's. Any truth to this?

Was discussed, not at the commitee or anything. 2 clubs could do it together, as we have before, 3 would be difficult. Trouble is that we have only one player avaliable at A grade standard. Dave Whenham, Fielke, Magpie & Skater dont want to play A grade anymore, which is fair enough since the youngest one there is 47 i think.

??? We had an A,B,C's last year. Isn't each club ask to submit teams at the start of each year?

Wasnt it just Noarlunga that applied? Have to agree though sherm with pongy pulling out, pt elliot with an ageing list and Goolwa trying hard to be competitive in A grade can we afford not to accept new stronger clubs? Within the next few years the league could possibly have 5 A grade sides and 6 other clubs with b grade or lower!.

With only 10 or so days until the first round, does anyone have a provisional fixture at this stage?

Would be handy to know when each club has the bye(s)!!

Thats it offcutter coming up quickly

Any thoughts on Upcoming Season

Thinking Willunga team to beat again...If they have got a few recruits will be very hard to beat,
Looking then at Encounter Bay, McLaren Vale, Aldinga and Compass, should be all Vying for the Top 4.
Elliot have a few decent recuits ive heard, but still struggle with the depth of other top teams but will cause a few headaches with bowling from Donaldson.
Goolwa lead by Evans are always a Danger team to play but do as well struggle with depth.

Should be an Interesting season, any other thoughts LAds????

so theres only 7 a grade sides and 9 b grade sides.... there was absolute outrage a few seasons ago when there was only 7 nominated a grade sides so compass put in a second. Whats happened over the last few years for this opinion to change and now 7 a grade sides is accepted??? IMO its a step back for the association! This would have been a great opportunity to strengthen the association with the inclusion of Noarlunga... i only hope that this narrow mindedness doesn't come back to haunt the association in a few years time..

Very interesting that. A few years ago in the MTCA they brought in a rule that you had to field an A grade side before you could field a B Grade side. Meaning that Jervois who had been beating up on the B Grade comp for years without an A grade side had to then move up to the A grade side.

you are spot on there jimmy, the league needs to get back to 8 A grade sides and then promote and relegate every season like they said a few years ago. any byes should be in the lowest senior grade.!

Ok Lads

Season Starts this week got some thoughts on Upcoming Season

Aldinga:- No Rohan Garrard which is a big loss for the lads, have superstar in b garrard who is one of the best in the association, good youngster in stangerwitz and also veterans such as Boyd millar and the scoefield boys, Lishy and Wood in which are reliable players.
Prediction :- 5th

Encounter Bay:- Have great Captain in Lintern, who does on occasions bat a bit low and the team can be a query if losing early wickets
have great young players in Wood, Edwards, Grenfell and Moles, also Parry is neat behind the pegs, always competetive and if butler fires very dangerous
Predication:-2nd

Goolwa:- Led by the learning Evans, who when he plays at his best is one of the best in the league, danger with bat and ball. Kuss is a good honest all rounder and Jones and heywood are hard workers. Cant see them making finals but always competeitive.

Predication:-6th

McLaren Districts:- led by the Wiley Ifould, Mclaren are always in the hunt, have honest veterans in Petrucci, Curtis and Wilson, who try hard every game, Have bowling depth with Hockey, Galletley and Duncombe, but are succeptable in batting with a collapse too familiar.
Prediction:- 4th

Mount Compass:- Led this year by veteran Num should be very competitive, With Connor and spurling batting dangers a score of 250+ wouldnt surprise, Neil Z and Braidwood if playing add class and Dalitz, Vitkunis and Hicks are good youngters.
Prediction:-3rd

Port Elliot:- Led by Mason who is a honest leader, elliot have some points to prove this year, after a good 1st year back in A Grade, many are questioning the depth of the players, Johnstone and Donaldson on their day can rip teams apart, the robinson boys will be looking for runs and wickets and Clark is good at 3. Could come Top or Bottom. Im tipping with their lack of depth Bottom

prediction 7th

Willunga:- Led by Serge Minnot, have put together a consistent team over the last few years, deserving of the flag last year, with Minnot, T. Williamson and Elliot are very dangerous again, have heard a whisper may get Brown from porties which will add depth. Deserving again of flag favourites, and a club everyone loves to beat.
Prediction:- 1st.
Good luck this season lads, this is rough and any opinions are encouraged.

not your smartest post big fella,... with donaldson, clarke, sheridan, and brown not playing yesterday and with victor, col birt and young slevec our depth has increased from that of last year, hard to tip against goolwa with the number of quality cricketers there, kuss great cricketer biggest knob on the south coast though, and andy is always a superstar but 2 people wont win many games for them this year,...look out this week wiw24 simons back and hopefully we will have our full side very promising season ahead
