Would that be Craig Miller from Waikerie OS?

Haven't heard a name yet. Interesting going after a mid-sized ruckman though if true.

I didn't say he was. All I heard was he - or his double - was seen having a yarn with some officials of an APFL outfit on the long weekend.

The Rooster wrote:The Yorke Peninsula league over the last five or so years has had a great reputation for luring players out there for big, big $$, which is their perogative, but at what expense!
they've had a few players sent down to league clubs and even AFL Teams (B.Vince) but essentially the measuring stick team in the competion is the club who has recrutied the best!
And Sadly the fact that they struggle to find players who want to represent that competition is indicative of the state that the YPFL finds themselves in.

Dont get me wrong, there are a great many good players running around up there for the love of it and that, at the end of all discussions, is what its all about. More Power to them. We should be encouraging the local talent more so than spend $700.00 a game on players who haven't played league footy!

that is why i think the YPFL should look at itself..............My opinion of course.

Be nice to know where you get your opinion from. Is it something you have observed from being around YP clubs or is something you have heard from friends and just read it on the forum. I can only speak for Kadina but our best players get paid 400 to 450 and maybe another 4 that get 300 to 350. The rest are locals. In the last two years when we have won flags we have played 7 senior colts. Jake Von Berto was rookie listed to the crows and Cameron Sucliff played league for the eagles. Three kids played under age at eagles. There is a balance between paid players an locals. and good clubs get it right.
AS for the rep game would most of the APFL players play in it if they didnt have to. Most of our blokes would rather work.

You're right Westy, mightn't be too long and there'll be three Kadina lads in the Eagles league side - Poole, von Bertouch, Sutcliffe.

Other recent YPFL exports include Matthew Goldsworthy and Angus Rowntree who are established SANFL players. Sam Jacobs, Jarrad Redden both on AFL lists.

How many APFL players have made league level recently? Jared Allmond is one. How about Dawson, how much would Balak be paying him?

Confirmed. They required three weeks warning to ensure they had enough spray tan lotion to cover the pastiness of myself, Glenn Dawson and Brenton Lamond.
Stewie Lamond will not require such tanning, as he is a regular sun-baker at Glenelg throughout the spring and summer months.

Have heard on the grape vine over here in the barossa that Lubcke is very keen to add some grunt to the Mallala midfield and is trying to lure Harvey from Angaston. I know they get on real well from when Lubcke has coached association sides

What are u smoking maiden. Harvey would be a walk up start in any midfield and I am sure all clubs would make room re points if a player of his quality was avaiable. I know for a fact that Lubke had Harvey over for a BBQ. Whether they were talking Mallala or past history association teams is any ones guess

Sounds like Hamley are trying to go back to the golden days of the early 2000. Barnett, Mckenzie, Young all reported to be going back to the club. Wonder if Kym Herrmann will make an appearance. Difference however is that these players are 7 to 8 years older and also the whole competition I believe is far better than it was back in those days. Mallala, Balak, and Virginia would be a step above that team. They would prob be on par with hummocks/united of last year. My thoughts only

I'm confused to. The post westy commented on was posted in 2007 or 2008

Will he add the same sort of grunt to the midfield that he did when he was at Barossa Districts?

Can't believe Peter McMillan missed out on the Hamley Bridge job. I thought Red Barnett had finished with coaching after the terrible job he did with Callington?
