NBL Dream Team 2011-12
It's getting very late to start but the game still isn't yet open for 2011-12
http://nbl.virtualsports.com.au/?p=register2
Anyway, CK are you running another league this year? I am in if you have room and are running a league.
The first game is 7 October so I am checking the site very regularly but still not open. How long will they wait?

Yep, have set up my league - would be good to get as many NBL Safooty.net'ers into it this year.
League Code: 461197, name - InsideThePaint: join up - tip off less than a week away.
Tough to get the team in under the cap, trust me.
ALSO - a NBL tipping comp: League Code 289309, InsideThePaint - join up for this also.

Re: NBL Dream Team 2011-12
This is the hardest I remember it being trying to get a competitive team on the court, little own worrying about the draw.
I reckon I had over 50 different strategies tested last night without much success.
Some more time would have helped.
I think I will settle on 4 guns(in my opinion) 2 mid pricers (pearls?) and 4 rookies (needles) to start the season with.
In the mean time Whobegotyou has gone for the spring so back to the drawing board for Star Stable!

Re: NBL Dream Team 2011-12
Very, very tough this year with team selection
. Like most here, I've juggled mine a few times now. Just when I think its okay, another combination leaps out. The other thing is a couple of the values are very high. He will probably repay it eventually, but I just can't risk taking The Sneeze at $251K, and use 1/4 of the entire cap on one player. Makes his breakeven point very high already.
Three in the tipping now, so anyone who wants to join, there is still time (just).

Re: NBL Dream Team 2011-12
I had Khazzough in my team right up until about Wednesday and was determined to keep him but then decided I was better to spead the money around guys that will increase in value and get Khazzough later. It was Sydney's round 3 double that was making me want to start Khaz. To start Khaz I had to play 5 $40K-$50K players and I looked at it and thought that could go horribly wrong for me if the values of the cheap players don't go up enough.
So now I have 4 new imports and 1 import from last year. 3 bargain priced players and 2 guys around $100K who I hope will improve on last year.

Re: NBL Dream Team 2011-12
Interesting chat, as I have come back to keeping the big K (especially now Bogut is out) and its consequences.
I just think that most of the new imports at (approx $116k) have not excited me this year.
Is this a NBL problem or just me?
I will soon find out, because my strategy will be very obvious from the start.
PS is there an easier way of getting the entire season printed on A4 (as the schedule is so important)?

Re: NBL Dream Team 2011-12
Part of me still wishes I had Khazzough from the start. My 4 new imports are Grant, Hudson, Jackson and Catron. I started Wilkinson as captain. 3 of those new imports have early doubles.
I made it that Khazzough scored about 50 tonight. On the other hand Grant and Hudson appear to have had decent games. Jackson less so because he missed too many shots. It's a matter of whether I can get price rises and enough points out of my imports so I can get Khazzough in ASAP before I let too many points go.
PS: I didn't find a good printable version of the schedule. I put the byes and doubles into a spreadsheet but I don't have recorded who they play or where so I have to keep going back to the NBL web-site.

Re: NBL Dream Team 2011-12
Grant scored a 34 last night, not a bad start at all for those that took him.
Still not sure that Khazzouh is value at the $251K just yet, that makes for a high breakeven point and certainly with Bogut out, the focus will be more on him. Just wonder if opposition teams will allow him as much latitude as they did last season. Even if his price rises, then its very hard to justify 1/4 of the cap on one player IMHO.
Abercombie fired a 52 last night, very good start there, particularly with a game to come still - I started him as captain, and was very surprised at his starting price.
Alaska - hard to say on the imports early. Grant looked one that was good value early but jury will be out for a bit. That said, Ervin wouldn't have excited too many when he first came to Australia, but he proved a big keeper early.

Opening week score places this league 55th nationwide, average score of 289 per team in the league.
Nice work to Hondo, leading the league with 402, placing him 125th nationally
