It was being said 15 years ago fh! Probably a bit harsh but when u look at the side that played in this hrs grand final and c only 5 or 6 genuine locals in the side compared to kadina's with only 5 or 6 outsiders, says a fair bit about the position they find themselves in now

Does anyone know what happened to Andrew Moritz. He would have made a huge difference for them. played a couple games early. I would had been abit worried if Langford played aswell.

Population of BUTE = 268
Population of KADINA = 4000+
I guess it's fair to say Bute does well to even field a team. If they don't get outsiders, how are they to survive?????
It's time Kadina was made to field 2 sides in the YPFL, such is their advantage in regards to population...

same thing will happen with moonta and wallaroo, with their population increasing quite quickly as well. im not knocking them RC just saying that not having enough locals will cause them to struggle in the future, seem to be running out of players. is a similar story in many country towns, gone are the days of 60 at training, some teams are struggling to get a b grade side together, even juniors

I have no doubt that population is a major factor in finding locals. There are smaller towns out there that still have strong sides. What would be the population of long plains. The point system will kill sides like bute, pasky. its was an even comp before with every club having there turn at the top.

Believe moritz is playing this year, m Polkinghorne, claxton have signed, Avery not far off.

Agree the club has struggled for a long time, but it's the people around the club that make it an enjoyable club for people to come to and is a big reason behind the success of holding on to many recruits over the years. This coming year will be a test but will not know till the recruiting has finished as to how the club will shape up.

Kadina already supply half of Pasky as it is!! Well, maybe that's not quite true in A Grade footy, but certainly is for the rest of the footy and netballs clubs.

Certainly. I'm not a Bute supporter but disagree with your previous statement about players just there for the coin. Bute over the years has probably had fewer players, if any, than any other club come solely for the money and then go without giving something back.

Every club has had players come in, some stay and give plenty, some don't. I'm sure both Millers and clinch weren't there for the love of it! U r correct, blokes like slade have come in and stayed around but have been plenty that haven't!

From what I can gather, the colts who don't make the cut at Kadina end up at Pasky? Is that the process there?
Right in front of me. RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME!

A little bit, but also some go out out there as it is a smaller, more family-feeling country club

Ardrossan has won lotto with the imminent signing of Jamestown CHB and Northern areas team of the year player Jarrod Curtis. Can play in ruck, down back, up forward but a seriously dedicated and tight-arsed defender.

Brendan Mckeough to Ardrossan. A very handy addition one would think

Where did he come from watchdog?

Played league football for South Adelaide and has since been one of the top forwards in the SFL playing for Reynella

A quality player over the past years in the SFL and rep footy, will make a huge impact on and off the field.

Not sure if Curtis will cost all that much. He's in it for the game and now being a resident in Ardrossan I think its a fait accompli
