Good, he should be.

Not sure how it works.
I think it's a bit strange to be zero one year and two the next.
More of an inconvenience than anything.

I believe it is like this....We applied to have On Song as a zero points player as he had moved into the town for work. The league instead of granting an exemption gave us an additional 3 points which meant that effectively On Song was a zero point player, to compensate all the other clubs who might think this unfair all clubs were given an additional 3 points as well. This was for last year only so this season he comes under our general allocation of 8 points as a 2nd year player worth 2 points.

That seems about right. If he was 0 pointer this year then, effectively Balak would have 2 extra points than the rest of the league, as the board won't be giving out extra points this year as compensation.
It was probably either that or else the board would have to make some sort of a bylaw for when a player moves into a town and wants to play footy, although that would again be advantaging the bigger population clubs with more employment opportunities and more houses to be lived in.
I think its the right decision to make him a 2 pointer, and the board has to be commended for rectifying what was probably a mistake last year in giving him an exemption.
If you don't like it, change it. If you don't want to change it, it can't be that bad!

Edited for accuracy!

So, if I'm 2, Cocks 2, Farrell 2 there's six points. If Doherty is in, that makes nine in total. I think we only had nine to play with.

Just wondering, if a player comes from the amateur league and has played a handful of games the past couple of years in Div 3R and C3, will he come under the points system?

Explain to me then why Hamley's Div 1 recruits for season 2010 were 3 point players then 2 point players this season?

Why would I need a new home?
Perhaps I have the wrong end of the stick here, but I'm pretty sure I did a story on the league deciding to adapt the APPS as of the 2011 season, back in December 2010.
