Re: Jon Blake Quits 5AA - Joins Triple M

Post by southee »

Too me, when Blake is interviewed seems to be a very bitter man and believes in his own hype.

I've had a few giggles listening to him but its really not my sense of humour.

Triple M I have tried to listen to but cant handle the S.O.S they dish out. They market the "simpletons" in society who dont have to think too hard when listening to basic, mind numbing "poo" and "fart" jokes.
The fake laugher is pathetic and the ads with people ringing up saying "ohhhh...yeah....love you guys and your music man" (probably some executive's cousin!!) is just plain nauseating!!! :vom:

Most commercial radio is nauseating.

I actually nearly vomit when I hear the inane laughter and conversation amongst on air "talent".

Agreed about Aiston and Reilly. I don't normally listen to breakfast radio but last year I started listening to them regularly, was somewhat refreshing.

He's got a really weird, pervy sense of humour and she's a bit cleverer than she lets on - they work well together. Much better than when Jane Doyle and the so-right-wing-Chris Ditmarr used to fill in...nightmarish!

I don't like commercial radio as a rule but I just want some music-free news and talk first thing in the morning...what's a good alternative? Even Matt and Dave on the ABC, who I think work better mid morning than brekkie, play boring old fart music.

John Blake is at his best when in small well timed doses..
Too much of him and you realise his arrogant big head takes over from his humour..

Anyone been listening to 5AA int he mornings without Blakey?

It has definately been missing something and then they add Tim Ginever to the mix and its god awful everytime they cross to him, he is pathetic behind the mike.

Its going to end it tears.

What other breakfast options are there?

Very limited options unfortunately.

I'd probably listen to MMM if Ali Carle wasn't on there.

Good news is Ali's going on maternity leave once Blakey joins the hot breakfast.

Mix 102.3's breakfast show have got Mark Aiston, who I've always rated as a breakfast show host, so there's another option.
They don't keep me here because I'm gorgeous and 5'10

I'm not a huge fan of Aiston.

MMM definitely an option now if she's off temporarily soon to be replaced by Blakey.

yes I agree if 5AA answer to losing Blakey is Ginever then they will drop a tad in the ratings, its cringeworthy radio. Im not sure Ginever will last 6 months from what ive heard!

the only other options I would try are MMM - but i hate tredders continually repeating the same sports stories every hour.

Mix would be the other option and I dont mind Aistons humour.

TAB radio 1539. Morning sports show is a good listen, depending on the segment. Only issue is that it finishes at 7:30 during the non daylight savings months.

Either that or give a CD a spin. FM radio is junk.

Yep, dont mind it at all, loads of international sports updates and scores. Tune into that pretty often.

Or flip to 93.5 Three D on FM and expose yourself* to some local music.
