an absolute gun of a footballer, copped soooo much physical punishment for someone so small but seemed to ride through it all. very resilient. Watched rotten ronny andrews kick Him in the head once, He got up & ran off & got on with the game.

Platten was a champion.

Would he be considered the best ever rover to play in the SANFL?

One name not mentioned...Derek Kickett. Played some irresistable footy during his stint with us. An instant crowd favourite who oozed excitement whenever he got near the ball.

Did Stewie actually have a starting spot in the league team? I have a vague idea that he played only a handful of league games, if any. Don't reckon Roy Laird played many senior games either did he?

I reckon Laird would have played between 50 and 100 League games.

I'm sure someone on here will have his playing details.

Roy Laird league's career spanned from 1989 through to 1997.

He played 89 senior games and kicked 5 goals.

I'm pretty sure he played about 100 reserves games as well.

Alan Stewart only managed 2 league games for the Dogs, both in 1969.

A bad thigh injury restricted him to a limited amount of footy but he did play in the '71 Reserves Premiership before forging out his coaching career.
