Easy win by the Dogs today,we never really looked like losing it.Still have a few out at the moment and JGowans went off injured.Reserves won by 10goals aswell so we certainly have better depth than last season beating North and South to start the season.South were lucky we were a bit off with our disposal as it may have been worse for them.Souths game is absolute shit, you have some very good players but your game plan is too predictable.

South certainly did their best to drag us down to their uninspiring level today but the boys kept at it for a good win.Lots of sloppy and indirect stuff with a bit a fart-arsing about with the ball did make the game less than entertaining though.
ps Richard Williams is still the worse whistle-blower going around!

Like last week thought Central made plenty of decision and skill errors in the first half, but were getting first use of it. Both games I expected to pull away in the second half and they did. Cowan looked very rusty, but provided a focal point and 3 goals while some terrible passes over his head didn't help. Symes was fantastic, Thomas was better than last week but drifted in and out of the play a bit over the course of the game. Schell looked good at half back, but still looking to b too enigmatic for a backman, but killed them with his marking. Gowans boys were good again, Callinan is on fire and Dutschke did some good things bobbing up here and there. Switala's poise and skill were important while I thought Wilson and Ware's momets of brilliance were a little rarer than I would like. McKenzie was serviceable but not at his best and Richard Cochrane I thought was also a little down. Slattery was fantastic again, and it makes me wonder firstly how West could let him go, and secondly how bad the rest had to be (or how bad the coaching was but that's another story) with this guy on board. First player for some time to go TO Centrals and play regular league.
Giles, Lawry and Grima all impressed in their key positions, and with Cowan improving with every run, Graham, Pfitzner, Westhoff, Sibenaler and Aufderheide wanting to press their claims for those same key positions there will be some very disappointed blokes miss out and a very strong reserves team. Especially when you consider Currie and O'Sullivan couldn't be considered and several league experienced guys are playing reserves such as Hayes and Stengle. Obviously we can't expect everyone to be healthy, but I think our depth will only get better as the season wears on.
For South, their best players were made to look good by our waywardness. Parry won plenty of hit outs, and placed them perfectly for Centrals' small men to take the ball away. He also made a few nice marks to cut out Centrals' forward forays, albeit when we felt kicking to a rover V the opposition ruck was a good option. Sampson's reputation must have earned him south's BOG. I lost count of how many times he filled the space and had the ball kicked to him. This was usually followed by the dogs not wanting to tackle him for fear he would step around them and run away. Unfortunately all this did was give him time to find a teammate, who then proceeded to run away themselves. Warren decided to stop watching Grima play and have a go himself late in the game and kicked a couple to register his 200th goal in league footy. Kicking cheap goals when the game's dead is a great way to boost your chances for the Ken Farmer, because it seemed either Warren or Pyman only care about this since keeping their cleanest mark away from the play when things aren't going well isn't the best way to win a game of footy. Having said that, from what I saw today, I don't think south have to worry about how to win games of footy this season, but how to beat West and not get spanked by too much so their percentage is higher at the end of the season.

Final score was 16-14 110 to 7-9 51. Callinan and Cowan 3 each, C. Gowans, Slattery, Slade, Westhoff, Musolino, Ware, Giles and Symes also got goals. For south, 2 each to Twomey ad Warren, McGrath, Hunter and Carlile chipping in for the rest. Lawry 4 behinds for the dogs, but 4 of the best behinds you'll ever see.......

Not a bad match report Graham you should get a job at the Tiser, maybe not coz you actually reported on the game and not other bullshit going on like last week v North. We let ourselves down with some of our decision making and foot skills today,Noodles burnt the ball a fair bit which is disappointing as he usually has excellent skills.Still cant complain too much with a 10 goal victory.
