Booked my bike in yesterday for a 3 month service. I made a complaint about my chain falling off and the guy said "we'll fit a new chain".

Twice on the way home it fell off so I rang them back. Then riding in this morning, my chain fell off three times. The third time resulted in me taking my eye off the upcoming bend and going ar$e over, left hand, left knee, left shoulder taking the brunt. Ipod classic which was in front left pocket now doesn't work as it bore the brunt of the fall (all 95kgs of me). Also, ripped a hole in my bike seat.

I took the bike in and the guy said that I had a warp in the front cog. They'll replace it under warranty but the bigger issue is my ipod doesn't work :(

I'm getting close Dutchy.... actually I'm very close to asking for my money back rather than a new bike from them. If the chain falls off again, I will be instantaneously.

On this basis you can probably tell I wont be recommeding using Megabike in Rundle St.

I just found out that one my staff is Stuart O'Grady's brother-in-law  ... some new found respect there.

Oh, and I've just bought his bike ... 2011 Merida Scultura Evo 904, full carbon, full Shimano 105 5700 group set.

I did consider that, and O'Grady is about my height, but Monaco is a bit far to go to pick it up.

So I ring Megabike today and ask what's going on with my bike. They said that the mechanic took the bike for a spin and couldn't get the chain to fall off, so it's all good to go. I said "na mate, it's not" and explained the story again. The cog "apparently" now isn't warped but there is a tooth that's ground down a bit on the cog which "might" be making the chain slip. I said to the guy, mate the chain is falling off when I go up a driveway or through a spoon drain. I told this guy that he'd better test it thoroughly because if I take it back and the chain falls off, I'll be in there either to get a new bike or my money back.

You gotta go to JT cycles. I walked into the brighton store on Sunday with my old bike which is due for a major service. As I walked through the door they started bringing up the bike service's history and checking my details. Quick check on the spot and discount provided for the replacement parts, it is proabbly going to cost me $100 less than I thought it would. Never any problems there.

Got my new Merida yesterday and went for a 30km ride to make sure all is in order.

Noticeable improvement on my Trek alloy, and all went well apart from 2 cars trying to run me off the road and a puncture (thankfully) only a few hundred metres from home.

Anyone here do the VeloAdelaide yesterday?

I did the 80kms, havent been doing enough training and playing cricket on Saturday took a bit out of the legs so was never going to attempt the 110kms.

Riding up the freeway was fun, just a long grind with no let up, the winds were not friendly which made it tougher, then up to Mt Lofty for a break. Nice downhill from there all the way down Greenhill Rd to Balhannah. Then a heap of climbing including a hill in Bridgewater that broke the back of many riders who got off to walk up, I stopped but didnt push the bike up.

Then snaked its way back to Summertown, again I saw 3 blokes pushing their bikes up the hill, they would have all weighed 30 kgs less than me so while it was tough I was satisfied I made it up. Then thru Ashton and down Montacute Rd which was a fantastic smooth descent, really keen to do that again, great fun. Saw some bloke who missed one of the tight turns and was being looked after by others, thought he looked OK but about a minute later an ambulance rushed past us, hope he is OK.

Few more climbs we were not expecting thru Magill and down to Hindmarsh Sq for the finish. Easily the toughest 80km ride Ive ever done with 1.3km of climbing, great fun though and a really well run day.

How do you keep track of all these races?

I've FINALLY got back on the bike after a massive layoff.

Went for a small 30km ride Sunday to shake off the rust then 60km yesterday.

Feels good to be back on the bike.
