Congrats to the Ramblers Under 15 team. Undefeated champions knocking off a quality morphy parks outfit who had a handful of district players coached by none other then Ross Brokensha. Future looks very bright at Weymouth with our five junior teams and massive milo have a go cricket sessions.

Remiss of me not to congratulate JABBER entering his first finals campaign as a cricket director
..... Not only has it been a successful year off the field for Jab but on the field he has given the term "chin music" a whole new meaning. The majority of batsmen in our comp do what they can to get out of the way when they see balls coming at their throats but this guy, well he stands erect with a big smile on his face
Always claimed to be the best opener going around !
Once again good luck to the remaining clubs !

Can't believe that not only are they In the same div and also that they are playing each other in the last round. Unbelievable!
They now play against each other in the semi.

For 2nd, 3rd and 4th that is ! You guys must have one hand on the cup alreadyNot bad when you can give the ball to a guy first time for the year (?) a week before finals and he takes 8 for .......
You guys have a very imposing record at home but the last two sides to beat you there were Coromandel and South Road, albeit a life time ago, but still does give them some confidence with South Road beating you the past two times you have met .... i think .
Should be a great weekend of Finals cricket with cooler weather predicted think Coro must bowl first and restrict you to have any chance. Good luck
I think there are now 4 sides with one hand on the cup all the minor round games mean nothing now as it is one poor performance that gets you knocked out in the finals, not something i agree with but thats how it works in asca.
Good luck to all the sides this week in all grades and i hope that good cricket is played in all the grades and the umpires dont get noticed.

Re: Adelaide and Suburban Cricket Association 2011/12
WYC V Coro
My Tip: WYC
. I think our batting depth will get us across the line this week against the Coro boys. We play our home ground well and have plenty of finals experience on our side. This is the strongest finals side we would have had in the last 5 years IMHO. Scott Luders being back and bowling gives our attack the impetus it has been crying out for the whole season. I think Lourens and Bruce will hold the key for Coro with the ball and Koirala, S Cheek and Oakey with the bat. I think both bowlers and 2 batsmen really need to fire for them to get across the line. The toss will always play a part in finals as chasing does funny things to people in finals. I predict M King and S Luders to have big games for us and S Cheek and G Bruce for Coro.
Our oval is pretty quick so a score of 250 or less will certainly feel chasable by either side no doubt.
South Rd V Plympton @ Edwardstown
My Tip: Plypmton
I am not sure why i am tipping Plympton but no one has really tipped them all year and they have finsihed 3rd so are clearly doing something right. Their older blokes hold the key with the bat in Naismith, Habib and Giersch as well as their skipper in Pritchard. Their younger guys are the ones who have done the damage with the ball and this will be a big test for them against a quality Sth Road batting line up. Sth Roads opening pair of Calder and Krutli are hugely important for them and getting rid of them cheaply will go a long way towards winning the game for Plympton. Wilson and Potts in the middle order are capable of capitilising on a good start and can take the game away from Plympton if given the opportunity to do so. Justin also seems to be someone who occupys the crease and has made runs the last few games.
May and Vertue are a very good opening attack and it will be important for PLympton's top order batsmen to ensure their middle order isn't facing the new ball.
I suspect this game will be a low scoring one with a score of approx 160 getting the job done.
May with the ball is Sth Roads x factor if he is on then they will be very hard to beat.
ICC and Nth Haven should get across the line in section 2 one would think with their records this year.

My cricket only shows back to 08/09 and in that year to now, no side finishing top has won it. In fact 2 of those three years have gone to the side finishing third.
Also to note, both plympton and coro would not have made finals in any of the other previous years back to 08/09 (could be further not sure about that). Continuing from that, sheidow park are unlucky in that they would not have finished bottom in any of those years either.
Think it shows that this is closest year that the association has had. For me, the winners this week will be WYC and Plympton, assuming they win the toss

Re: Adelaide and Suburban Cricket Association 2011/12
Wyc v coro
Wyc for me. Very strong batting line up, if they bat first n get on top of coros bowling will make a big score on there home deck. Coro needs lourens n bruce to fire early. If coro bats first will need to handle a lot of pressure early n build there innings have to bat 75 overs. Both sides have stars that can be match winners on there day looking forward to seeing the result.
Sth road v plympton
Sth road for me. Have played some great cricket this year have a lot of guys in good form with bat n ball. Lot of ppl surprised with plympton but saw them first hand beat us by a bit pritchard does a great job with them. Will be another good game.
Good luck to our b,c n d grades on the weekend.

If North Haven win Section 2 do they go upto Section 1 automatically and Sheidow go down or is it upto the individual clubs?

I know last year talking to Russ Hewitt about our side going through a re-building stage if you call it Sheidow would not be relegated had we finished bottom I personally didnt agree with it and told him we would go down had that happened. Ive hearr the same has happen this year due to Sheidow filling all sections.

As much as id love to see the bulls stay up when will the association realise that quality is ways better then quantity and for the sake of the comp the teams that earn the right play section 1. Also for the bulls sake i really think they need a shake up and going through what we did years ago and the hard work it took to earn that right to get to section 1 isnt going to hurt the current side

Bulls will go down if Nth Haven win Sect 2 and want to come up. They may win Sect 2 but I'm not so sure they want to come up. I'd bet on the Bulls staying up.

Re: Adelaide and Suburban Cricket Association 2011/12
I know that if PFCC were to come bottom last year, which we were only 1pt away from if i recall correctly, then PFCC would have lobbied and faught tooth and nail to stay in section one. There were two main reasons for this:
1) PFCC were rebuilding with a very young side that we felt had they stayed together would have reaped reward sooner rather than later.
2) PFCC had been in section one for around 45 years straight, had never in its history come bottom and never been relegated, and as such felt that the Club may have deserved one reprieve after so much time spent in section one in ASCA.
Now, in one of the best seasons of ASCA Section One for a long time PFCC is now fighting for a Grand Final spot this weekend, 12 months after being junky-junk. We saw North Haven's relegation and then debacle in the Section Two GF the following year and thought we don't want that to be us.
I guess some of the elder PFCC people looked at it and said that it wasn't the Plympton way to accept going down a grade, but instead trying to fight your way out of the position that you are in, exhaust all avenues before accepting defeat.
There are arguments either way, but thats the stance that PFCC were going to try and take.

Not too long ago, Glenelg ANA came top, the following year they came bottom and were not relegated, and the next year came top once again. I still believe if you come bottom and an A grade side wins section 2, they should be relegated/promoted. Not only does it reward the section 2 sides, but it also makes the last rounds in the season very important for all sides, and not allow sides to just go through the motions when they are bottom because they know they won't get relegated. I would fight for my club to stay up as well if we were to come bottom, but that won't happen, so need to worry about it

Re: Adelaide and Suburban Cricket Association 2011/12
Which is what makes the promotion/relegation so good there should always be something to play for. It also stops clubs from stacking sides below if they want to stay up. The major problem again is here to see the clubs dictate the comp not the executive commitee everyone needs to be on the same page you win it you go up lose your down to many grey areas. no youth policies, number of teams, club history etc etc one rule thats it.

Re: Adelaide and Suburban Cricket Association 2011/12
How does this work, a player has been playing in the 7+7 comp in a clubs B Grade side, he then plays the last 2 games in there A grade side, the A grade side want this player to play in the finals, but the player has to get a permit, the player has gone up not down ??
